Red Rock Storage Solution – Containers
Bureau of Land Management Nevada 1 Project Introduction
Project Name: Red Rock Storage Solution – Shipping Containers Address:
BLM-SNDO
4701 North Torrey Pines Drive Las Vegas NV 89130
1.1 Location of Facilities
The Red Rock Canyon’s only developed campground is located two miles east of the Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area Visitor Center on W. Charleston Blvd (State Route 159). The campground is located one mile south on Moenkopi Road from the junction with W. Charleston Blvd. Its physical address is 3293 Moenkopi Road, Las Vegas, NV 89161.
In addition to 77 public campsites, the campground houses a maintenance area, several storage sheds, and staging space for large equipment, like reader boards, UTVs, and building material.
Short Description of Required Services Proposed is the purchase of three (3) shipping containers to serve as a storage solution for Red Rock Canyon NCA. The containers will be 40-foot with dimensions approximating: exterior 40’ x 8’ x 8.5’, interior 39’5” x 7’8” x 7’10” (these are approximations – slightly different dimension i.e. 40’ X 8’ X 9.6’ are also acceptable), double-door opening 7’9” x 7’5” (containers can either have a set of cargo doors opening on one end, OR double-door containers - units with two sets of cargo doors, one on each container end wall), and 300 sq feet. We are requesting delivery and placement of the containers.
They will house equipment, tools, building material, utility vehicles, and other miscellaneous items. Additionally, the containers will be used to store office furniture, archived material, electronics, and fixtures while the Admin Building is remodeled.
The shipping containers will be placed in the main maintenance area near the Camp host Office. The area will house all 3 shipping containers. Coordinates 1st location 36.12941; -115.38367 Coordinates 2nd location 36.12809° N, 115.38211° W. The areas will be prepped in-house to be level and flat before the containers will be delivered. About ½ mile of the road to the delivery location is on a gravel road.
There are no offloading capabilities on site. A self-unloading (tilt) truck is required. However, there will be space available for a 40ft trailer to pull forward 90ft after the container is dropped off. There is also 13’ width clearance, and 14’-21’ height clearance for unloading.
Used containers are acceptable if in good working conditions. Minor dents and dings from shipping are acceptable. Used units shall be free of dirt and rust, have properly working doors with rust-free hinges, tight seals to prevent rodents and water from entering, locking mechanisms that freely move from the open to locked position, clean, and free of dust, dents, cracks, holes. Also, if quoting used units, photos shall be submitted to verify condition is acceptable.
Commercial Sale is acceptable; however, the containers must comply with the “Buy American Act.” Quotes that do not verify they are compliant with the “Buy American Act” will not be considered These are for purchase only. Rentals will not be considered.
All three containers should have matching colors. Container color should be an earth tone that blends in with the Red Rock landscape: beige, light brown, light orange, light gray, or light green.
Deliveries must be made between 0800-1800 Monday through Sunday. The COR must be notified at least 48 hours prior to delivery.
A virtual “pre-work conference call” is acceptable. An onsite visit is not required.
Purpose Currently, the storage sheds in the Red Rock Campground have deteriorated and all but one have been torn down. The shipping containers will serve as a cost-effective replacement.
