Wooden Posts

Issuing Office: BLM Nevada State Office

Location: BLM Carson City District Office

Solicitation Number: 140L3923Q0156

QUESTIONS:

Q1. Just wondering why the posts have to be doweled? I would have a peeled product that is capped and pointed.

A1. The desired product will have a uniform width (see response to questions 2). Doweled or peeler core products are both acceptable. Specifications do NOT call for one end to be pointed. Products which are capped would be acceptable.

Q2. What is the third dimension for the wood post needed? Size indicated is 6' long and 6" wide

(is it 6' x 6" x 6" or 6' x 6" x 4" or 6' x 6" x 2")

A2. Product should be 6 feet long and 6 inches wide at both ends (6' x 6" x 6").

Q3. The most common wooden posts this size are 8' long instead of 6' long. Can the post delivered be 8' long instead of 6' long? When installing a 6' containment, two feet are normally buried.

A3. No, 8ft long posts are not acceptable. The 6 ft long post is required, as the final above ground height will be approximately 4ft.

Q4. Can the total requirement for wooden post be split into three deliveries of 500 each?

A4. Multiple deliveries would be acceptable assuming they all occur within 90 days of the contract being awarded, as required within the revised specifications.

Q5. Please advise if 8-foot-long wooden posts will be acceptable.

A5. No, posts must be 6 feet in length. See response to Q3.

Q6. Is lodgepole pine acceptable yellow (hard) pine for the posts?

A6. Yes, lodgepole pine is acceptable.

Q7. The majority of my quotes have given me a 6-to-10-week lead time for production due to the custom sizing of the posts. Is there any grace given in time for production due to the special order of this product? I know the delivery request was 60 days from award date (11/30/2023).

A7. The solicitation and specifications have been amended to reflect delivery within 90 days from date of award to accommodate production lead time.
