About this file
This document is a Contractor Questions and Government Responses document for a Cattle Guard Purchase (Solicitation Number 140L2625Q0101) involving the Bureau of Land Management (BLM). The document addresses four key questions from potential contractors regarding the procurement specifications. The primary clarifications include: (1) the requirement for zinc-enriched protective coating on cattle guards, which can be achieved through a zinc-rich metal primer or elemental zinc as a filler within a polyester powder coat, with Honey Yellow color permitted; (2) confirmation that the procurement quantity is six cattle guards, bases, and wings (despite initial conflicting documentation); and (3) instructions to incorporate delivery costs into the unit prices for each Contract Line Item Number (CLIN) using the form provided in Appendix 1 of the pricing schedule.

Question Government response Reference 1 our standard cattle guard comes with a Polyester Powder Coating in Honey Yellow. Is this ok or does it need to be zinc enriched?
The protective coating is required to be zinc enriched for superior corrosion resistance. This can be achieved with a zinc-rich metal primer or by using an elemental zinc as a functional filler within a polyester powder coat. Honey Yellow for color is fine.
