Question and Answers 140L2222Q0008 Las Cruces Field Office Raptor Survey

Will there be a provided survey plan including sampling methods and what data we would need to collect specifically?

· The survey plan is detailed in the SOW. They plan includes 2 surveys per month within the 3 survey areas (Rough and Ready Hills, Sugarloaf, Dona Anas). At all sighting locations habitat assessments will be conducted, and breeding pair monitoring will be done when applicable. Data related to prey bird availability, prey use, breeding behavior, and productivity, and fledgling monitoring are all part of the surveys.

Will the BLM provide field data sheets that reflect the information they are interested in or are we required to construct our own field data sheets?

· The BLM will not provide data sheets. the contractor will need to construct their own field data sheets.

Are there any special pieces of equipment required for this project? If so, can you provide an equipment list so we can prepare accordingly?

· No specialized equipment should be required for the project, other than binoculars

Are all of the survey locations located on federal property?

· All survey locations are to take place on BLM managed lands

Are we looking at all native birds of prey for the survey or is this specifically targeting the Prairie Falcon?

· This project is interested in all cliff dwelling raptors in the project area that may be impacted by climbing, not necessarily just Prairie Falcon. Golden Eagles, Peregrine Falcon, etc. are also of concern.
