Mud Flat Site Visit Questions

1. Can you provide detail about the wiring from the Existing Solar System Support Building to the

Existing Cook Building and Existing Bunk House?

The wiring from the Existing Solar System Support Building to the Existing Cook Building and

Existing Bunk House is 110 V buried in conduit with 220 V capacity for future expansion

2. How many Solar Arrays are currently on site?

Drawing C101, Key Note #1 states: (4) 8-panel modules

3. Where is the generator listed on Drawing ED601?

The generator is portable and is not currently at the site. When used the generator will be connected with an extension cord with a standard 3 prong 120 Volt 15 Amp plug to the inverter

/ battery charger

4. With no generator on site, can you clarify Key Note #2 on Drawing E601?

Key Note #2 on Drawing E601 exists to highlight the BLM’s need for a way to connect the existing (portable) generator on Drawing ED601 to the system

5. What is the “site work” on the Bid Schedule?

Bid Schedule Line Item Number 0002 Division 02 Site Work has one Section 024119. Section

024119 – Selective Demolition, Part 1-General, A. Includes:

1. Demolition and removal of selected portions of building or structure.

2. Salvage of existing items to be reused or recycled.

6. Can we bring a camp trailer or RV to stay in while working on site?

Due to the remoteness of the site, A camp trailer or RV will be permitted at the work site during the work effort. No access will be provided to the buildings or other government owned property. Any camp trailer or RV must be removed from the site within 24 hours of substantial completion of the work effort.

7. Will restroom facilities be provided?

No. The contractor shall be responsible for providing a portable toilet or other appropriate restroom facility.

8. Will water be provided for either human use or the construction effort?

No. The contractor shall be responsible for providing any water

9. What is to happen with the demolished and waste materials?

The contactor shall be responsible for collecting, hauling, and proper disposal of all waste materials.

10. Will we be responsible for providing training to the government on the new equipment?

Yes. The government will provide up to four individuals for training upon substantial completion

11. You currently have (4) 8-panel modules. What size were they?

The drawings and specifications include all the available information related to the existing system.

12. What is the desired size for the new system in kW?

Mud Flat Solar Replacement Specifications page 263100– 4 and schedule on Sheet E601 provide the minimum criteria for the panels, inverter charger and a load table of the site is provided on Sheet ED601. All equipment and materials must meet or exceed the specifications provided and substitutions are acceptable if the meet or exceed the specifications of the components listed in the schedule

13. Do you want the batteries and controller replaced? what are their current specification?

Batteries and controller are to be replaced as per drawing ED601

14. Can the existing solar panel support structure be re-used?

Key Note 1 on drawing C101 states: REMOVE EXISTING SOLAR PV SYSTEM PANELS CONSISTING

OF (4) 8-PANEL ARRAYS. RETAIN (1) STRUCTURAL SUPPORT AND CONDUIT TO SUPPORT

BUILDING. ENSURE SUPPORT STRUCTURAL MEMBERS ARE INTACT AND FOUNDATION HAS NOT

BEEN COMPROMISED.

15. Can you clarify the Existing Electrical Circuits on Drawing E601

The BLM is seeking the addition of a 100 amp Service Disconnect kit to the load center, the removal of the existing 60 amp 2 pole breaker to be replaced with a 50 amp breaker single pole breaker, and wiring within the service panel brought up to current codes and standards. Photos of the Load Center are below
