Question 1: Are there multiple chutes so a second or third person could be trimming horses simultaneously?
BLM Response 1: There are multiple chutes, however only one chute would be designated for hoof trimming as the other chute would be in operation with other horse/burro work activity.
Question 2: If not could we bring our own tilt chute in?

BLM Response 2: No. The chute infrastructure is permanently in place with holding, lead up, and hydraulic squeeze chute. It is not designed to bring in additional portable squeeze chutes.
Additionally, the squeeze chute at the facility is specifically designed to safely and humanely restrain wild horses and burros.
Question 3: Does the trimmer need to be a certified accredited farrier? Or is past in the field relevant experience, ok?
BLM Response 3: Certification or accreditation is not required. Relevant experience with trimming wild horses and burros is ok.
Question 4: In one part of the solicitation, it looked like the contractor and wranglers/BLM would coordinate trimming schedules. In another section, it shows that the trimmer would only be given 48 hours notice of being required to show up and trim. Which one is correct?
BLM Response 4: Trimming schedules would be coordinated by the BLM (Facility Manager) and/or
(Contracting Officer Representative (COR) which mostly is coordinated on a weekly/monthly schedule. However, there are times when Program direction changes with animal movement that could require trimming to occur with much shorter notice and a deviation from a routine schedule.
All other terms and conditions of the Combined
Synopsis/Solicitation remain unchanged.
