About this file
This document is a Specification/Salient Characteristics for Goods Needed that outlines requirements for a wildlife tracking system designed for backpack attachment on piscivorous and water birds. The system must feature customizable form factors to accommodate different species anatomy, accelerometer-driven GPS controls, remote programmability via cellular networks, and comprehensive web-based tools for data review and multi-tag location assessments including mapping and history tracking. The tags must conform to existing workflow requirements regarding data format and schemas.
The required goods consist of two types of GPS/ACC telemetry units: 20 black elevated 6-gram GPS/GSM backpack transmitters with raw accelerometry burst capabilities and 15 black 3-gram GPS/GSM backpack transmitters with raw accelerometry burst capabilities. Specific product references are provided (Ornitela 6g and 3g transmitters). The GPS tags must enable users to remotely configure GPS and accelerometry collection settings, support solar recharge and 4G data transmission, provide onboard storage for out-of-network periods, implement geofence-based secondary location controls, and deliver raw accelerometry values for activity and behavior analysis. The complete delivery is required by April 15, 2026, to 800 Business Park Drive, Suite D, Dixon, CA 95620.

Specification/Salient Characteristics for Goods Needed
Field Station:
Objective:
Wildlife tracking system for backpack attachment on multiple species of piscivorous and water birds. Transmitters must consist of a customizable form factor to enable appropriate marking suitable for the anatomy of marked species. Tags must also have the capacity for accelerometer-driven GPS controls. Tags must be remotely programmable via cellular networks and include a comprehensive suite of web tools/web sites for data review and simultaneous multi-tag location assessments (mapping and history tracking). Tags must conform to existing workflow needs, including data format and schemas.
Required Specifications:
GPS/ACC Telemetry units consisting of:
1) ~6-gram elevated black backpack-mounted GPS/GSM wildlife tags with integrated accelerometry. https://www.ornitela.com/6g-transmitter
2) ~ 3-gram black backpack-mounted GPS/GSM wildlife tags with integrated accelerometry (https://www.ornitela.com/3g-transmitter)
GPS tags require the ability for the user to set and remotely configure (via cellular network) GPS and ACC collection and data transmission settings, solar recharge, 4G data transmission, and onboard storage when out of network range. GPS collection interval must have the ability to implement a secondary control based on location (geofence) and provide raw accelerometry values for analysis of activity and behavior.
Quantity:
1) 20 Black elevated 6-gram GPS/GSM backpack transmitters with RAW accelerometry burst capabilities
2) 15 Black 3-gram GPS/GSM backpack transmitters with RAW accelerometry burst capabilities
