140G0325Q0229 – Question & Answer Document:
1. We understand that the purpose of the manuscript deliverable is to provide methods for integrating cultural-benefits-knowledge into the practice of environmental assessment and adaptive management, using the Glen Canyon Dam Adaptive Management Program as a case study. Will the scope of the manuscript be limited to providing recommendations on the future application of these methods in reference to existing scholarship and available information on the Adaptive Management Program? Alternatively, will the contractor be expected to conduct new research (such as interviews with representatives of regional Native American tribes and/or ethnographic research) to develop a case study which includes specific examples of potential cultural-benefits-knowledge integration for Glen Canyon?
1A: The contractor will be expected to conduct new research, synthesizing existing cultural benefits literature and information about GCDAMP to produce novel methods to meet the project objective of integrating cultural-benefits-knowledge into the practice of environmental assessment and adaptive management.
2. What are the expectations for authorship on the resulting manuscript? Is it expected that the contractor(s) will be included as authors?
2A: The contractor(s) will be expected to be authors on the draft manuscript.
3. Are the contractors expected to remain involved throughout the submission process or is their involvement complete when the manuscript is submitted to USGS?
3A: While not required, as customary in the academic publishing process, the contractors will be encouraged to be involved throughout the manuscript submission and revision process.
