About this file
This document contains an amendment to a solicitation for a remote operated vehicle. The United States Geological Survey is seeking an ROV capable of reaching a tripod anchored to the seafloor at a depth of 240 meters to support the recovery of scientific equipment. While the solicitation originally requested an ROV rated for 2000 meters, the amendment clarifies that systems able to operate down to 1500 meters would also be considered desirable, though the primary requirement is an ROV capable of the 240 meter depth. Shallower depth rated ROVs would be acceptable over having no ROV at all. The solicitation number is 140G0324Q0072 and aims to procure an ROV to support recovery efforts of scientific equipment mounted on a seafloor tripod frame.

140G0324Q0072 Amendment 1 – Attachment 1
Question:
We just wanted to double check that you only want bids for ROV's rated to 2,000 meters. I know that the one in question is only 240 meters deep and that the desire is to have an ROV on board that could recover all if needed, including the deep one.
Response:
(The USGS is) will consider ROVs with a shallower depth rating than the requested 2000m. The main requirement is for a system that is be capable of reaching the tripod at 240m water depth. Having a system that can operate in deeper water up to 1500+m to potentially assist with the other sites is desirable, but not as necessary. We would rather have a shallow water ROV than no ROV at all.
