QUOTATION SUBMISSION

STATEMENT OF WORK/TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS FOR REMOVAL AND

INSTALLATION OF OUTDOOR/EXTERIOR SIGNAGE

A. Introduction:

The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), Upper Midwest Environmental Science Center (UMESC), La Crosse, WI has a requirement for the removal of outdoor/exterior signage, design, and installation of a new entrance sign.

B. Background:

The current UMESC main building entrance sign was installed in the late 1990s. The newest segment D and conference facility entrance has a newer modern sign that was installed in 2012 after the wing was constructed. Visitors often mistake the adjacent segment D entrance for the main entrance because of the newer sign. The main entrance sign is the oldest signage for the facility and needs replacement to represent the high-quality research image that USGS maintains and to match the newer signage from 2012 for a consistent front image.

C. USGS Mandatory Requirements:

• Trademarked USGS Identifier: The USGS identifier is protected and only available for use for this particular project.

• The Contractor is not allowed to alter the USGS Trademarked Identifier. The USGS is providing the Contractor with a one-time use of the USGS trademarked identifier for the purpose identified in this Statement of Work.

• The identifier consists of three elements: a monogram of the letters “USGS,” a symbolic mark, and the motto “science for a changing world”.

• PDF – (for reference see Attachment A- Attachment A - UMESC front bldg entrance sign_mockup2024)

• Fonts - Times New Roman and Univers Condensed are the current USGS Visual Identity System (VIS) fonts.

• Color Green - The identifier appears in the key color green (PMS 349) when placed against white or light-colored backgrounds.

• Final Design of the signage must be submitted to USGS for review and approval.

D. Scope:

The Contractor shall design, deliver, remove old sign entrance, and install new entrance sign, that matches the current adjacent sign over the conference facility. There shall not be any alterations to the identifier and the job must be done with an official identifier.

E. Technical Requirements: The Contractor shall include the following features in the design:

• Current older sign that will be replaced is a fabricated aluminum backer panel 44” x 92” mounted on aluminum channel behind backer panel. See Attachment A - UMESC front bldg entrance sign_mockup2024. New sign shall match existing sign #2 (backer and logo/colors/block letters and add the center name under the logo as example shows.

• Refer to Attachment A- Attachment A - UMESC front bldg entrance sign_mockup2024) sign specs for existing sign as a guide to match (colors, block letters, backer panel).

• Non-lit sign - shall not include backlight with halo like current sign.

• Center name included under the Identifier (logo and motto) – “Upper Midwest Environmental Sciences Center”.

• Backer Panel:

• Material: Shall be fabricated aluminum

• Shall be mounted by hidden aluminum channel concealed behind

• Must be custom match Sherwin Williams SW 6170 Techno Gray

• Raised Block Letters/logo:

• Fabricated aluminum or acrylic letters

• Shall have reverse channel letters

• Must be green color (PMS 349)

• Must be 1“thickness + 1/2” standoff from backer panel

The final design of outdoor exterior signage is to be reviewed by the Office of Communications and Publishing to ensure that visual identity standards are being followed and for consistency across the USGS.

F. Deliverables

• The Contractor shall deliver and install the new entrance sign at USGS, UMESC, 2630 Fanta Reed Road, La Crosse, WI, 54603.

• Work shall be performed during regularly schedule facility hours (7:30 am - 4:00 pm;

Mon - Fri).

• The Contractor shall provide equipment as necessary to minimize debris in and around work areas.

• The Contractor shall clean surfaces impacted by installation work and remove any debris created by the installation from this project.

• The Contractor shall notify the Technical Liaison (TL) prior to any issues affecting project completion or delivery date as soon as practical.

Period of Performance: 09/23/2024 through 01/22/2025
