Statement of Need The USGS, Laboratory and Analytical Services Division in Denver, Colorado supporting the Water Mission Area requests a high throughput, Federal Agencies Digital Guidelines Initiative (FADGI)-compliant scanner.
The primary use is to support water quality science by ensuring all records produced are compliant with the FADGI, which is the quality baseline for digital records per the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA). After June 30, 2024, NARA will mandate all records be managed digitally.
While LASD has shipped hundreds of archive boxes, some paper records need to be retained for active reference, and new paper records will be produced. A FADGI-compliant scanner will allow LASD to remain in compliance while it pursues an electronic laboratory notebook (ELN) system. Having compliant records will allow LASD to continue producing information that is fundamental to local economic well-being protection of life and property, and effective management of the Nation’s water resources.
