About this file

This document is a Statement of Work (SOW) for the modification and installation of electrical power to cubicles at the USGS St. Petersburg Coastal and Marine Science Center. The work involves rerouting existing power drops and installing additional ceiling drop cords to workspace cubicles on the 2nd floors of the Getting and Studebaker Buildings. The project scope includes routing drop cords from ceiling junction boxes to cubicles, installing quad duplex receptacles under each desk, and replacing or adding new electrical drop cords as needed. The successful vendor will have 90 days to complete the required work from the date of award, with 30 days for materials and 90 days for labor. The project is estimated at $25,000, with 50% for materials and 50% for labor. A site visit is highly recommended. Past performance and price will be the evaluation factors.

Text version

1. Project Name: Modification and Installation of Supplied Electricity to Facility Cubicles

2. Conditions: There are no known conditions that may affect the performance constraints.

Occupants of the cubicles we be asked to vacate their space during modification. The work is to be completed on Federal government property, which requires strict adherance to federal regulations. The vendor shall sign in and out each day with the Facility Operations Specialist. An escort is required for all non-USGS personnel at all times.

3. Background: The work is to be completed at the USGS St. Petersburg Coastal and Marine Science Center

The USGS St. Petersburg Science Center requires rerouting of existing power drops and installation of additional ceiling drop cords to workspace cubicles on the 2nd floors, Getting and

Studebaker Buildings, 600 4th Street South, St Petersburg, Florida. This purchase request is for the rerouting drop cords through the cubicle framing and mounting receptacle boxes under each desk for the 2nd floors Getting Building cubicle space. Work on the 2nd floor Studebaker

Building includes the installation or replacement of new electrical drop cords, installation of receptacle boxes, and mounting of the boxes to the cubicle. This work is to be designed, quoted, and installed at the facility listed above and based on the following description and accompanying diagrams.

4. Delivery or Performance Period: The successful bidder will have 90 days to complete the required work from the date of the award. It is projected that approximately 50% ($12.5k) of the total award will apply to the materials used in the project, while the other 50% ($12.5k) will be labor charges.

The Period of Performance (POP) for the materials is 30 days from the date of the award, and the

POP for the labor will adhere to the overall completion date of 90 days from the date of award.

Regular updates shall be provided to the USGS representatives on the progress of the work. The vendor shall coordinate with the on-site building manager and appropriate USGS staff on all scheduling, installation, deliveries, power cord routing, outlet mounting locations, and electrical requirements as needed.

5. Project Scope: The USGS St Petersburg Science Center has 30 cubicles, 22 of which are located in the Getting Building (fig. 1), and 8 in Studebaker Building (fig. 5). They are all powered by single phase 120V, 20A ceiling SO drop cords (fig. 2).

Each Getting cubicle has a dedicated drop cord and circuit. The work requirement is to route the drop cords from the ceiling junction boxes (fig. 3) to directly over each cubicle and feed the drop cord through the existing raceway in the cubicle frames. The drop cords are to enter the cubicle raceway nearest the desk position. Four-inch square boxes with 125V, 5-20R quad duplex receptacles are to be mounted under each desk on the framing. The framing has existing openings and knock-outs to feed the wiring and to the accommodate the receptacle boxes (fig. 4). The outlet boxes must be securely fastened to the cubicle framing.

The Studebaker Building cubicle area (fig. 5) requires rerouting, replacing, or adding electrical drop cords and receptacle boxes as outlined below. Quad duplex receptacles are to be mounted on the underside of each cubicle desk. Circuit tracing to identify which circuits are available in the junction boxes may be required as well as the space required for new circuits in the conduit. All drop cords will be long enough to have at least one service loop at the ceiling.

• A243 replace existing locking plug on SO drop cord with 125V, 5-20R quad duplex receptacles and secure receptacle box to underside of cubicle desk.

• A241 add SO drop cord from junction box. Connect SO cord to 125V, 5-20R quad duplex receptacles and secure receptacle box to underside of cubicle desk.

• A237 replace existing SO drop cord with SO drop cord terminating in 125V, 5-20R quad duplex receptacles and secure receptacle box to underside of cubicle desk.

• A239 add SO drop cord from junction box. Connect to SO cord to 125V, 5-20R quad duplex receptacles and secure receptacle box to underside of cubicle desk.

• A231 replace existing SO drop cord with SO drop cord terminating in 125V, 5-20R quad duplex receptacles and secure receptacle box to underside of cubicle desk.

• A233 replace existing locking plug on SO drop cord with 125V, 5-20R quad duplex receptacles and secure receptacle box to underside of cubicle desk.

• A225 Add SO drop cord from junction box. Connect to SO cord to 125V, 5-20R quad duplex receptacles and secure receptacle box to underside of cubicle desk.

The SO drop cords in both buildings are to be routed along the ceiling from the junction box to drop directly down over the location of use. Excess lengths of SO drop cords are to be neatly coiled and secured along the ceiling.

Each receptacle box is to be clearly labeled with the electrical panel ID and circuit number in a visible location.

The vendor is responsible for obtaining all necessary permits for the electrical work.

The vendor will provide all SO cord, boxes, receptacles, cover plates, conduit, additional wiring, mounting hardware, strapping, and kellum grips as required. All electrical components must be certified by a nationally recognized testing laboratory to the appropriate standards in the National Electrical Code (NEC). No used, damaged, or defective components may be used for the installation. Replacement of any components damaged during transport or installation are the responsibility of the vendor. The vendor is responsible for adhering to all national and local electrical codes and regulations.

Installer shall unpack components and be responsible for removing any packaging waste or refuse from the work site, leaving the area clean of debris. Trash containers shall be provided by the customer as requested by the installers.

The vendor will provide notice to the customer a minimum of 3 business days before onsite work commences. We require that the vendor indicate in writing if installation is to be performed (or potentially be performed) by a third-party installer. If a third-party installer is used, please provide the name, address, and outline of qualifications of the installer.

7. Site Visit: A site visit is highly recommended. There will be a one-day opportunity to for potential vendors to visit the site in order to determine labor and material calculations.

8. Evaluation Factors: We will be working under the Simplified Acquisition Threshold (SAT). Past performance and price will be the only factors included in the vendor evaluations.
