About this file

This document is a set of specifications for an Automatic Acid Steam Cleaning System required by the USGS Geology, Energy and Minerals Science Center (GEMSC) Radiogenic Isotope Laboratory (RIL) in Reston, VA.

The key requirements are for a fully automatic cleaning system that can perform consecutive acid cleaning, rinsing, and drying of labware without operator exposure to acids and vapors. The system must accommodate multiple labware racks, have a minimum capacity of 345 x 345 x 265 mm, operate at 110V-15A, and have a compact footprint not exceeding 800 mm length, 450 mm depth/width, and 400 mm height. The system must be able to remove trace metals from glass, quartz, Teflon, and other labware materials using HCl, HNO3, HF, and HBr acids. The USGS is issuing an RFQ 140G0124Q0120 on 03/28/2024 with written quotes due on 04/05/2024. This is a total small business set-aside acquisition under NAICS code 334516 with a size standard of 1,000 employees.

Secon B - CONTINUATION OF SOLICITATION/CONTRACT FORM

B-1 Specificaons

The Geology, Energy and Minerals Science Center (GEMSC) Radiogenic Isotope Laboratory (RIL) has a need for an Automac Acid Steam Cleaning System that supports the analycal work done by chemists to prepare samples and produce uncontaminated analyses during analysis by the Thermal Ionizaon Mass Spectrometer, and by the Inducvely Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometer in the Lab (RIL) in Reston, VA.

Item Required:

Analab Easy Trace S35 with Automac Clean Rinse Dry System (made by Elemental Scienfic Inc) brand name or an equal to product.

Specificaons/Salient Characteriscs:

The cleaning system must meet these requirements:

1) Be fully automac for every step and can operate without supervision from beginning to end of cleaning.

2) Work consecuvely starng with acid cleaning, rinsing, to drying of labware.

3) Be able to use/operate all acids (not as part of the hardware) in the lab during the cleaning procedures (parcularly HCl, HNO3, HF, HBr). If quong an equal product, the specificaons must explicitly state that the equipment (Acid Steam Cleaning System) will operate with HCL, HNO3, HF and HBr acids during cleaning.

4) Accommodate a selecon of racks (to clean mulple sets of labware at once).

5) Eliminate operator exposure to acids and vapors during the cleaning procedure.

6) Have a minimum capacity of 345 x 345 x 265 mm capacity; operate at 110V-15A with a plug type

NEMA 5-15.

7) The footprint of the unit cannot exceed 800 mm length, 450 mm depth or width, and 400 mm height.

The operang (total) height cannot exceed 50 cenmeters. If quong an equal product length, depth/width, height, and operang height dimensions for quoted products must be provided with quote documentaon.

8) Ability to remove trace metals from glass, quartz, Teflon, and other labware materials.

See clause 52.211-6 Brand name or equal, if quong an equal to product.
