Salient Characteristics

REMOTE SURFACE CONDITION SENSOR

BRAND NAME OR Equal 4 EA, Sensor:

1. Shall have voltage range of 9-30 VDC.

2. Shall have power consumption no more than 3.2 Watts.

3. Shall be power cycled without negative effects.

4. Shall have operating temperature of -40° to 149°F (-40° to 65°C).

5. Shall be used for asphalt or concrete surfaces.

6. Shall allow for surface condition, surface friction, surface temperature, air temperature, and RH measurements.

7. Shall have range of 3-15 meters (10-50') with concrete and 3-10 meters (10- 33') with black asphalt.

8. Shall have measurement area of at least 12 in (30.5 cm) diameter at 33 ft (10 m)

9. Shall have elevation angle of 30º to 85º from road surface and 45º optimum.

10. Shall have sensitivity of 0.01" ice/water and 0.05" snow.

11. Shall have air temperature accuracy of ±0.4 at 32°F, otherwise ±0.9°F (±0.2 at 0°C, otherwise ±0.5°C).

12. Shall have relative humidity of 1.8% at 10% to 90% RH, 3% at 0% to 10% and 90% to 100%.

13. Shall have surface temperature accuracy of ±1° at 32°F otherwise ±2°F (±0.5°C at 0°C otherwise ±1°C).

14. Shall be used for dry, damp, wet, standing water, snow, un-compacted snow, ice, and black ice surface states.

15. Shall have surface grip on a scale of 1 (best) to 0 (worst) and classified surface grip (good, fair, poor).

16. Shall have internal algorithm evaluates and reports the optical condition of optical window, indicating cleaning or maintenance required.

17. Shall communicate with EIA-485, multi-drop capable (up to 8 addresses), EIA-232, Ethernet.

18. Shall have removable high visibility green laser targeting.

19. Shall have eye safe class 1 lasers.

20. Shall have start-up BIT and one digital test signal diagnostics.

21. Shall have cable that is at least 30 ft (9 m) cable with tinned leads.

22. Shall have standard flat camera mount foot that tis 3x ¼”-20 holes and spaced at 1”.

23. Shall be no larger than 45 cm x 13 cm (17.75" x 5.25") and weigh no more than 3.6 kg (8 lb)

24. Shall have 1-year, extendible year by year warranty.

25. Shall be capable with sensor specs listed above.

26. Shall attach to a 3 to 8-inch diameter pole.
