Specifications
FWS LWR Great Lakes Fishery Resource Center require two eDNA Sampling Units, one backpack and one non-backpack style, that will filter water samples to collect edna from the aquatic environment. The two styles ensures that we will be able to sample in a wide range of field sites. Sampler size must not exceed 16x15x9.25 inches and a weight of 16.2 lbs without a battery for the non-backpack unit, and 30.5x16.4x15inches with a weight of 24lbs without battery for the backpack unit. This ensures that this equipment can be adequately transported and used for field sampling. Both units must have the same functional parameters (listed below) to standardize sampling across both devices. Each unit must be able to filter water at a flow rate of up to 1.4L/minute and measure up to 999.9L of water volume for the filtration.
Sample parameters including sample volume, filtration pressure, and flow rate are programmable using the sampling unit computer to ensure standardization across all samples. Samples must be collected on self-desiccating filter packs that are compatible with the units to ensure sample preservation and viability after storage.
We require that the unit must be able to collect GPS data with an accuracy of at least 2.5 meters and measure water volume at a >90% accuracy at 0.1L/min flow rate or greater.
Files must be exported in .csv file format for appropriate data analysis and must be available via USB download from the sampling unit. We require that each unit has a lithium battery to decrease overall unit weight for easier transport in the field.
