STATEMENT OF WORK
Water Management Infrastructure Alligator River National Wildlife Refuge
PR:
Background Alligator River National Wildlife Refuge (NWR) in Dare County, North Carolina manages a cooperative farming program as a habitat management tool to meet refuge purposes and wildlife goals and objectives as outlined in the refuge’s Comprehensive Conservation Plan. Water management is an integral part of managing the farmlands which are surrounded by a perimeter dike. This contract is for the purchase of water management infrastructure that is needed to replace damaged water control structures and a culvert and to improve management efficiency by replacing wooden stop logs with aluminum ones that are not prone to swelling, leaking, or damage from rakes and beavers.
Scope
• Contractor shall fabricate and deliver purchased goods to Alligator River NWR, 13518 Milltail Road, East Lake, NC 27953 in Dare County.
• Contractor shall fabricate water control structures with aluminum stoplogs, a culvert, and additional aluminum stoplogs with the dimensions and quantities as described in Table 1.
NOTE: The proposed combination of board heights is desired and preferred to give flexibility in water control. If contractor is unable to supply 8-in high boards, bids will be accepted with additional 6-in high boards to make up for the height that would be supplied by the 8-in boards.
• All stoplogs will be aluminum with slots for removing boards. The slots should be 3-in X 0.75-in. Two slots or lifting holes are required per stoplog. See Figure 1A.
• Contractor shall provide two, six-foot long lifting handles for the aluminum stoplogs. See Figure 1B.
