About this file
This document is a Scope of Work (SOW) for a water management pump project at the Ottawa National Wildlife Refuge. The solicitation requires manufacturing a custom 10" x 12.5 HP 230V axial flow pump with specific technical specifications, including media-lubricated internal bearings, capability to produce 2000 gallons per minute at eight feet of total dynamic head, and an immersion-rated epoxy-coated underwater pump casing. Additional requirements include fabricating aluminum components such as stoplog U-channels, stoplog panels, beaver guards, and pit cover grating, as well as supplying a boom truck for installation.
The contractor must collaborate closely with the Spoerr Precast Concrete vault manufacturer to ensure component compatibility and must be able to respond within two hours for onsite support during high lake events. The project mandates receiving approval from Refuge staff on all shop drawings and includes a one-year warranty covering parts, labor, operation, and potential manufacturing defects. The offeror is expected to provide a conceptual drawing of the proposed pump with their submission, demonstrating technical capabilities and understanding of the project's complex water management infrastructure requirements.

Ottawa NWR MS2 Water Control Structure and Pump Scope of Work:
The Moist Soil 2 Water Control Structure and Pump will provide water management including stoplog and pump capacity to support wetland management. The project will require the collaboration and coordination between the manufacture of the pump, electrical panel, and other manufactured components and the Spoerr Precast Concrete vault manufacturer, 2020
Caldwell St, Sandusky, Ohio, 44870 to ensure all components work seamlessly.
• Manufacture custom 10” x 12.5 HP 230V 1Ø axial flow, belt driven pump and automatic level control panel with electrode level sensors with muskrat protection, discharge extension and turn-down pipe, and supply/paint pump and grating support beams.
• The pump shall utilize “media (water) lubricated” internal bearings. No grease or oil lubricated bearings shall be used as internal components of the pump.
• The pump shall be capable of producing at least 2000 gallons per minute at eight (8’) feet of
Total dynamic head. Estimated flow rate shall be verified and documented in a test pit prior to delivery.
• The underwater portion of the pump casing must be coated with immersion rated epoxy.
• Safety guards on all moving parts.
• Supply, cut to fit, and edge-band (as required) aluminum pit cover grating.
• Manufacture 1 each: aluminum stoplog U-channel, 1 stoplog panel, approximately 46” W x
60” tall, and 36” x 2” stoplogs, 1 permanent, 2 removable.
• Manufacture 2 flap style aluminum beaver guards for 24” dual wall HDPE pipe.
• Supply boom truck and labor to install pump beams, pump, and grating.
• Collaborate directly with Precast concrete vault manufacturer to ensure pump, grating, beams, stoplog channels and stoplog inserts all work together seamlessly.
• Offeror must be within 2 hours to be onsite to fix and support operation of pump to protect infrastructure during high lake events and for possible future service contracts.
