ISO Room Drum Filter Page 1 of 3 Ouray National Fish Hatchery – Randlett Unit

General:

Ouray National Fish Hatchery Randlett Unit (ONFH-R) was established in May 1996 as a fish refuge and technology development facility to assist in the recovery of the four listed Colorado River fishes:

Razorback Sucker, Colorado Pikeminnow, Bonytail, and Humpback Chub. In 2021, ONFH Randlett Unit continues in production/stocking to meet goals established by the Upper Colorado River Endangered Fish Recovery Program (Recovery Program) for Razorback Sucker and Bonytail. The hatchery will continue to maintain Humpback Chub collected from Desolation Canyon in 2009 as a refuge population and potentially as a source of future broodstock.

The Ouray NFH operates a large hatchery building housing a large Recirculating Aquaculture System (RAS) and an independent RAS Isolation (ISO) Room.

We are in the process of revamping the ISO Room and need a new drum filter for the design. The new revamped Iso Room will have 12 - 36” in circular tanks, 24 - 18” circulate tanks, a UV system, drum filter, inline heaters, large sump, biofilter tank, and degassing column. Bottom of culture tanks will sit at 26” off the floor. Water temperature will run 14 to 22⁰C, run up to 200 gpm (90 to 100 gpm under normal operation), and be a freshwater system. Salt will be added to the system (1% treatment) for treatments that can last up to 4 weeks at a time.
