Furniture Specifications
The Whitney Genetics Lab (WGL) requests to purchase laboratory tables, shelving, and cabinet drawers.
In Region 3, WGL is collaborating on a metabarcoding Early Detection and Monitoring (EDM) project with the USFWS Northeast Fishery Center (NEFC, Region 5). The program is being developed to assist
FWCOs as a more efficient part of their monitoring efforts to aid in the early detection of AIS. This work is critical to the mission of the USFWS FAC program to Manage Aquatic Invasive Species. It is essential that WGL follow established protocols to maintain data compatibility across two USFWS Regions.
WGL is building 3 new laboratory spaces that need to be outfitted with lab benches and shelving. These new laboratory spaces are manufactured rooms that require free standing furniture.
Laboratory Furniture requirements:
a. The lab benches and shelving need to be of the highest scientific grade to ensure proper decontamination procedures (e.g., bleach mixture) can be used on them while not compromising their integrity.
b. The furniture needs to provide a stable and structurally sound work space for our equipment. Each of the 3 rooms are designed with a unique purpose that also requires customized bench lengths and associated storage.
c. Furniture shall best meet our needs through the combination of flexibility of customization, lead times, material quality, assembly, and costs.
