About this file
This document is a Questions and Answers (Q&A) file for a Yukon Cabin Demolition project (Solicitation Number 140FC325R0020) issued by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS) on 09/24/2025. The project involves demolishing a remote Pan Abode cedar log cabin, which is an empty shell with no plumbing or electrical components. The cabin's location is specified by coordinates in the Statement of Work, and access is challenging, requiring transportation via flights to Chevak, AK, and potentially using local aviation vendors like Papa Bear or Renfro's. The Period of Performance (POP) is deliberately long to provide vendors maximum flexibility for logistics and planning.
Key contact personnel include Edward (Ed) Davis for technical questions, with alternative contacts being Acting Contracting Officers Tiffanie Pannell (09/25/2025 – 10/02/2025) and Terrence Anderson (10/03/2025 – 10/10/2025). The document emphasizes that dump trucks are not an option for site access, and the actual work is expected to be brief, with most costs attributed to travel and logistics. No environmental hazard assessment was deemed necessary due to the cabin's condition. Potential vendors are advised to review the Statement of Work and focus on the remote site's specific requirements.

140FC325R0020 Yukon Cabin Demolition Questions and Answers
09/24/2025
1) Can you explain the project a bit?
Answer: Review the Statement of Work (SOW), focus on the remote component. See the coordinates provided on the SOW.
2) You have a long Period of Performance (POP) listed, when would you want the project done?
Answer: The long POP was provided to give the vendor the greatest amount of flexibility that we could, for logistics/planning. Work could happen at any time during that POP.
3) Is there a site visit planned?
Answer: Due to the remoteness of the site a site visit would be hard. Maps and additional photos could be provided.
4) As this is a major concern due to the new codes on older buildings (40 CFR Part 61, Subpart M).
Is there any hazmat test results on the buildings existing hazmat status?
Answer: The structure is a Pan Abode cabin kit, cedar logs. It is a dry cabin, meaning no plumbing. All electrical has been removed already. It is an empty shell of untreated lumber in cabin form. Due to the building being only an empty shell it was determined it didn’t need an environmental hazard assessment.
5) Are there any hazardous materials on site?
Answer: This is a pan abode cabin, a tongue and groove type construction with no insulation, no plumbing, and no electrical.
6) What is the closest village to the cabin?
Answer: Chevak Village but this not where the cabin is located. On the SOW the coordinates to where the cabin is located are provided.
7) How do people get out to the cabin?
