About this file
This document is a Request for Information (RFI) containing six detailed questions about an electrical installation project for a gate at Alligator River National Wildlife Refuge. The questions address technical specifications including conduit requirements (Schedule 40 PVC for underground and EMT for above ground installations), contractor licensing, and coordination with a gate opener contractor. Specific details include the need to meet National Electrical Code (NEC) requirements adopted by North Carolina, confirmation that a gate contractor has been selected, and verification of electrical connection details.
The project involves electrical work for an automated sliding gate at the Maintenance and Operations Center, with an estimated value under $25,000. The electrical installation will connect power from the main building to the gate operator, with the site located at 13518 Milltail Road in Manns Harbor, NC. A site visit was conducted on Thursday, April 10, 2025, with questions due by Friday, April 11, 2025, to the contract specialist. The project is being managed by the Department of the Interior Fish and Wildlife Service, with Kelley Van Druten as the point of contact.
