Ouray National Fish Hatchery Fencing Materials and Delivery

Revised Attachment 4 Question and Answers 22 July 2024

Comment/Question 1 from Vendor:

Reported Context V. PROJECT REQUIREMENTS 4 (a) Rail Diameter: 1 5/8 inches, or thicker, with one recessed end that is 5/8 inches.

If I provide all top rails at 1 5/8 on both ends and provide a sleeve to connect to either end at 1 5/8 diam will that be ok?

Comment/Question 1 Answer: All listed measurements are required minimums. Please note that the fence shall connect without having to purchase any additional materials.

Comment/Question 2 from Vendor:

Reported Context V. PROJECT REQUIREMENTS 8 (a). The request for 5 corner Post or terminal post

A chain link run longer than 500 feet should have a terminal post at 500 feet all 4 sides of this chain link fence are longer than 500LF so we would need to provide 4 extra terminal posts to give the fence the stability it requires for a proper security fence. Example of this would be the run that is 863LF ( you would run at terminal post at 400' to secure that run) Please advise if this is what you plan to do, and if so I would request to supply 9 ternmail posts and not 5.

Comment/Question 2 Answer: Yes, please supply 9 terminal posts and adjust the line posts.

Comment/Question 3 from Vendor:

Reported Context V. PROJECT REQUIREMENTS 8 (a). The request for 5 corner Post or terminal post

Each corner post should Have an H-brace to secure the strength of the corners. ( this would consist of a 1 5/8 post in the center of your section post with a truss rod tightened to the strongest part of the post. This set up is definitely suggested for the corner post connected to the gate If you are willing to do this it would require a H-brace set up for all 5 corners with an H brace step up on each end post direction.

Comment/Question 3 Answer: Yes, please include H-bracing for corner posts.

Comment/Question 4 from Vendor:

Reported Context V. PROJECT REQUIREMENTS 11(a).

11(a) It is recommended that there be one less tension band according to the size of the fence.

Example 8' fence should have 7 tension bands. ( but 5 will work )

Comment/Question 4 Answer: Please use 7 tension bands.

Comment/Question 5 from Vendor:

Reported Context V. PROJECT REQUIREMENTS 14 (c) Will be connected to fence via plastic jaw pinlock fastener Plastic jaw pinlock fasteners are for t-post, I suggest Dare U post insulators see below for Chain link fence post

Comment/Question 5 Answer: This attachment can be used.

Comment/Question 6 from Vendor:

Reported Context V. PROJECT REQUIREMENTS 14(d) Ground rod Based on the LF you will need 6 of these The suggestion is galvanized for longevity , you have a choice of copper or galvanized

Comment/Question 6 Answer: Galvanized

Comment/Question 7 from Vendor:

Reported Context V. PROJECT REQUIREMENTS 14( e) The output shall be between 0.12 to 0.2 joules Question : is there a need to supply the energizer or do you currently have one you are pairing to this fence

Comment/Question 7 Answer: The system will connect to a grid system.

Comment/Question 8 from Vendor:

( are 60lb bags of quickrete ok ) this will allow you to use 3 bags per hole. and not as heavy as a 80lbs bag ?

Comment/Question 8 Answer: No. Cement is not part of the required materials.

Comment/Question 9 from Vendor:

In several places, it repeatedly states that there is no installation included in this bid, and then in a couple of places it states that there is installation by the contractor awardee.... I assume there is not any installation work to be done by the awardee but I want to clarify.

Comment/Question 9 Answer: There is no installation of the fencing included, the procurement is only for materials and delivery. Attachment 2 Drawings Specifications was used in a previous solicitation for both materials and labor, and it incorrectly references “The contractor shall notify the manager 5 days prior to post placement” and “install new fence”. Attachment 2 was provided to clarification of the specifications needed.
