Panther T6 Tracked Vehicles Solicitation 140F0S23Q0038

Questions and Answers #1

Q1. The first item listed on page 13 of the solicitation document says “Flatbed dump w/six anchor points removable side panels”. What is the purpose for the side panels? Meaning, are they planning to use the side panels to turn the flatdeck into a dumpbox for hauling and dumping bulk material (dirt, sand, gravel, stone, etc), or are the side panels just going to be used to contain small tools and equipment? Would you prefer steel or aluminum removeable side boards for the vehicle’s bed?

A1. The purpose for the side panels is to haul materials such as gravel, dirt, brush, logs etc. so, yes, we would prefer stronger material.

Q2. If the vehicle will be used to haul bulk material (gravel and dirt) from time to time, the anti-slip surface will make it more difficult for material to evacuate the dumpbed. Also, loading harder/heavier material such as rock and gravel into the dumpbed could wear off that anti-slip coating more quickly.

A2. Great point. Let’s not proceed with the anti-slip.

Q3. I see in the bid documents it references “alternative” specs and how to provide those options, but I didn’t see anything about offering additional options. Should we simply itemize any options beyond what is listed in the bid spec? Or is it better to bring those to your attention now and get feedback on which options you would like us to quote?

A3. We would like you to quote on the specifications listed. If you have additional options you would like us to consider, please itemize them and list them separately from the options requested.

Q4. There is a dust screen option available that adds a little extra protection over the radiator to help keep larger airborne debris from getting into the cooling system. Would you like this included?

A4. We are not interested in adding the dust screen at this time.

Q5. The bid spec identifies a 20,000 lbs winch. Another option would be a 15,000 lbs moveable and removeable electric winch. The 20,000 lbs hydraulic winch is plumbed into the vehicle hydraulics and cannot be easily moved from front to rear. Which option would you prefer?

A5. We would like to stick with the 20,000 lb hydraulic winch.

Q6. We had some feedback from a customer in CA earlier this year that CA requires a 3” wide seatbelt in this type of construction equipment. Are you aware if the 3” is indeed a requirement in CA and if you would prefer that option in these vehicles? We have the option of a 2” wide 3-point seatbelt (standard) or a 3” wide 2-point seatbelt (lap only).

A6. We would like to stick with the 2" standard seat belt.
