Flume Pump Specifications The Bozeman Fish Technology Center is requesting (two) water pumps to supply flow to an above ground flume or channel. This flume will house a wide array of experimental water control structures including culverts, fish ladders, weirs, and ramps. A wide variety of fish species will be introduced to these water control structures in order to research their passage at variable water flow rates.
In order to meet our research needs, the pumps need to meet or exceed the following parameters:
-The larger of the two pumps must discharge 3600 gpm. The pump must be able to be turned down to 1800 gpm with a manually controlled variable frequency drive for long periods of time (weeks) without stalling.
-The smaller of the two pumps must reach 1800 gpm. The pump must be able to be turned down to 800 gpm with a manually controlled variable frequency drive for long periods of time (weeks) without stalling.
While meeting the above parameters, the pumps need to operate under the following specifications:
-Operate with 3/60/480V power -The pumps must be vertical axial flow with a non-submerged motors (to eliminate water heating) -Motor and pump must be coupled (direct-drive) -Must be able to operate in a wet-pit type sump -dimension 20’Long x 8’Wide x 10’ Deep -Must operate off of one central, outdoor-rated control panel -Must have outdoor rated motor heads or weather-proofing covers -Must be able to operate between 20 and 30 feet of head -Must be able to operate with water temperatures between 7C and 30C -Pumps must operate at lower RPM’s <1400RPM in order to reduce higher frequency, resonate sound -Pumps must include motor stands and flanged discharge -Pump package must include a low-water shut-off device The control panel must also include a third VFD and manual controls in order to operate an existing 15 hp Homa submersible pump (3/60/480v). This pump will be used to satisfy low-flow scenarios and operate as a life support system pump.
