Questions and Answers
1. Do you have any drawings , photos of the existing chimney and flue piping system for this solicitation?
No.
2. We require the gauge of the steel flue vent piping system, Total length of chimney.
Ok, as long as it's per code/ industry standard and is approved by the COR.
3. Is this chimney the same diameter inside/ outside throughout our length of total height or changing in the length as per building height?
We do not have the exact measurements. Potential contractors had the opportunity to view and take measurements of the fireplace/chimney during the site visit.
4. Do you need all the materials UL listed? Is it allowable to do any site fabrication of any part of the stainless-steel flue piping system?
All submittals are to be approved by the COR. Yes, as long as you provide the cut sheet/ specs, proof it falls into industry standards and is approved by the COR.
5. Is there any blockage in the existing chimney or flue piping system? Does the government require video inspection for existing chimney and flue systems?
No, not that the government is aware of. No.
6. Is the intent to make the fireplace fully functional?
Yes.
7. Can we assume that replacement materials such as brick must be similar to existing materials? If not, are there specifications for the replacement materials?
Yes, submittals are to be provided and approved by the COR.
8. There is a high probability that the vegetation (due to its close proximity) to the chimney on the roof top may be damaged during construction. Is there additional guidance on protecting the vegetation except Contractor will do due diligence to protect the vegetation.
It will be the contractor responsibility to preserve the green roof.
9. Does the ground facing plate need to be replaced to meet the current fire code?
Refer to the SOW.

10. Is the damper functional?
The government is not aware of any issues with the damper.
11. Is the screen supposed to be replaced?
Refer to the SOW.
12. Will equipment and materials be allowed to remain in the office, or do they have to be moved NLT 0600 each day.
This will be coordinated during the scheduling phase.
13. Will weekend work be approved.
Yes, and it is preferred.
14. Can safety guard rails be installed?
Temporarily, as long as the guard rails do not involve drilling into the exterior walls, facing, or roofs. Must be approved by the COR.
