About this file

This is an amended requirements document for the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Intelligent Systems Division specifying equipment procurement for robotic assembly applications.

NIST is procuring four line items: (1) one Productive Robotics OB7 robot arm or equivalent with minimum 5 kg payload, 1,800 mm reach, and six to seven degrees of freedom, designed and assembled in the USA; (2) one Productive Robotics PG2 parallel electric gripper or equivalent with two or more fingers and compatible with the specified robot arm; (3) one General Equipment Interface (I/O device) with minimum four digital and four analog inputs/outputs, compatible with the robot arm and either integrated into the controller or provided separately; and (4) one optional 2-meter linear rail transport unit (±0.25 meters) with free-standing support capable of moving the robot arm linearly. All equipment must be new commercial products with necessary cables and power sources included or integrated. NIST will conduct a 60-calendar-day inspection and testing period following installation to verify manufacturer specifications and operational functionality. The vendor must provide general industry-accepted manufacturer warranty and technical support beginning from the delivery date. All offerors must submit quotations specifying make and model for each line item, with the option to provide brochures or specification sheets.

Requirements Document

The Intelligent Systems Division (ISD) of the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) needs a Productive Robotics OB7 (or equivalent) 76-to-7 degree-of-freedom ROBOT ARM, suitable for robotic assembly applications.

REQUIRED ROBOT ARM SPECIFICATIONS

The system shall meet or exceed the technical specifications identified below. All items must be new. Used or remanufactured equipment will not be considered for award.

All offerors shall provide a quotation for the line items below. Offerors must, at a minimum, specify the make and model of each of the line items below and the equipment and software must be commercial products. The offeror may also provide brochures or specifications sheets for the equipment or software below.

LINE ITEM 1: Quantity One (1) each, Productive Robotics OB7 (Brand Name or Equivalent) ROBOT ARM The ROBOT ARM must meet the following minimum salient characteristics:

1. The ROBOT ARM must have a minimum payload that meets or exceeds 5 kg.

1. The ROBOT ARM must have a minimum arm reach of 1m800 mm (or more).

1. The ROBOT ARM must have six (6) or seven (7) degrees of freedom.

1. The ROBOT ARM must be designed and assembled in the USA (BAA/BABA compliance preferred but not required).

LINE ITEM 2: Quantity One (1) each, Productive Robotics PG2 (Brand Name or Equivalent) parallel electric GRIPPER The GRIPPER must have the following minimum salient characteristics:

1. The GRIPPER must be compatible with the ROBOT ARM in LINE ITEM 1 and all necessary cables provided.

1. The GRIPPER must have two fingers or more with included fingertips.

1. A power/energy source for the GRIPPER must be provided. The power/energy for the GRIPPER may be provided through the ROBOT ARM in LINE ITEM 1.

LINE ITEM 3: Quantity One (1) each, General Equipment Interface (I/O DEVICE) The I/O DEVICE must have the following minimum salient characteristics:

1. The I/O DEVICE must be compatible with the ROBOT ARM in LINE ITEM 1 and all necessary cables provided. The I/O DEVICE may be integrated into the ROBOT ARM controller box, in which case it does not need to be a separate line item.

2. The I I/O DEVICE must include both digital and analog inputs and outputs; a minimum of four (4) of each.

3. A power/energy source for the I/O DEVICE must be provided or may be provided through the ROBOT ARM in LINE ITEM 1.

LINE ITEM 4: Quantity One (1) each, 2m Linear RAIL Transport Unit for Robot Arm (Optional) The Optional RAIL must have the following minimum salient characteristics:

1. The RAIL must be compatible with the ROBOT ARM in LINE ITEM 1 and all necessary cables provided.

2. The RAIL must be able to transport the ROBOT ARM linearly in one dimension to a desired location.

3. The RAIL must be 2m in length (+/- 0.25m).

4. The RAIL must include or have available free-standing support (legs, pedestals, stands, etc.)

5. A power/energy source for the RAIL must be provided.

DELIVERY

Delivery will be per generally accepted industry standards.

ACCEPTANCE

NIST will inspect and test the equipment in the lab for a period of 60 calendar days after installation to ensure that the manufacturer’s specifications have been met and that the equipment is functioning correctly before official receipt acceptance.

EQUIPMENT WARRANTY

General industry-accepted manufacturer’s warranty period, beginning from the date of delivery, to include service and repair by the manufacturer for defects, workmanship faults, or loss of functional operation stemming from normal use and operation.

TECHNICAL SUPPORT

General industry-accepted manufacturer’s technical support period, beginning from the date of delivery.
