About this file

This is a Statement of Requirements for the procurement of turbomolecular vacuum pumps for the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST).

NIST's Surface and Trace Chemical Analysis Group seeks to procure six turbomolecular vacuum pumps to replace components in existing laboratory vacuum systems supporting large-geometry secondary ion mass spectrometers (LGSIMS). The requirement consists of two pumps each of three different pumping speeds: two 67 L/s pumps with DN 63 ISO-K inlet flanges, two 260 L/s pumps with DN 100 ISO-F inlet flanges, and two 685 L/s pumps with DN 160 CF-F inlet flanges. All pumps must be fully interoperable with Ametek Cameca ims 1280 and ims 1300 mass spectrometers, require no modifications to existing vacuum housing or electrical connections, and include integrated controllers with RS-485 serial communication ports compatible with the Pfeiffer Vacuum Protocol. Each pump must include power cables, air cooling, and an Operations Manual. The contractor shall provide standard commercial warranty commencing upon Government acceptance.

Delivery shall be made within 60 days after receipt of award, with all three pump types due within 20 weeks ARO, to NIST's Shipping and Receiving facility at 100 Bureau Drive, Building 301, Gaithersburg, Maryland 20899. The contractor is responsible for proper packing, marking, shipping coordination, and tracking with the NIST Subject Matter Expert. Upon delivery, NIST will conduct visual inspection and functional testing, with acceptance confirmation provided within one week. The Government retains sole discretion to reject, repair, or require replacement of nonconforming items at no cost to the Government.

STATEMENT OF REQUIREMENTS

Turbomolecular Vacuum Pumps for Large-Geometry Secondary Ion Mass Spectrometers

I. BACKGROUND

The Surface and Trace Chemical Analysis Group (STCAG) is part of the Material Measurement Laboratory (MML) at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). MML serves as the Nation's reference laboratory for measurements in the chemical, biological, and materials sciences, providing the measurement science, standards, technology, and data required to support the nation's need to design, develop, manufacture, and use materials. This acquisition of high-performance turbomolecular vacuum pumps supports the STCAG mission by providing necessary vacuum infrastructure for large-geometry secondary ion mass spectrometers (LGSIMS), ensuring the reliability and accuracy of measurement standards.

II. PURPOSE

The purpose of this acquisition is to procure six (6) turbomolecular vacuum pumps to replace components in existing laboratory vacuum systems. These pumps are critical for maintaining the ultra-high vacuum environments required for sensitive chemical and surface analysis using Ametek Cameca ims 1280 and ims 1300 mass spectrometers.

III. SPECIFICATIONS

The Contractor shall provide six (6) total turbomolecular vacuum pumps, consisting of two (2) each of three (3) different pumping speeds.

System Interoperability Requirements:

• The pumps shall be fully interoperable with Ametek Cameca ims 1280 and ims 1300 large-geometry, dynamic secondary ion mass spectrometers, including integrated software control and monitoring. Current pump models being replaced are: Pfeiffer HiPace 80, Pfeiffer HiPace 300, and Pfeiffer HiPace 700, whose controllers use the Pfeiffer Vacuum Protocol for RS-485 communication.

• The pumps shall require no modifications to existing vacuum housing, mounting hardware, or electrical connections to function within the Ametek Cameca systems.

Technical Requirements:

• Two (2) 67 L/s Pumps:

o Pumping speed for N2 of at least 67 L/s.

o DN 63 ISO-K inlet flange.

o Integrated controller with RS-485 serial communication port.

o Power cables and air cooling included.

o Operations Manual

• Two (2) 260 L/s Pumps:

o Pumping speed for N2 of at least 260 L/s.

o DN 100 ISO-F inlet flange.

o Integrated controller with RS-485 serial communication port.

• Two (2) 685 L/s Pumps:

o Pumping speed for N2 of at least 685 L/s.

o DN 160 CF-F inlet flange.

o Integrated controller with RS-485 serial communication port.

VI. WARRANTY

The Contractor shall provide its standard commercial warranty for all products provided under this contract. The warranty shall commence upon Government acceptance of the equipment.

VII. DELIVERY

The Contractor shall pack and mark the shipment in conformance with carrier's requirements, deliver the shipment in good order and condition to the point of delivery specified in the purchase order, and be responsible for any loss or damage occurring before receipt. The Contractor shall coordinate shipping method and tracking with the NIST Subject Matter Expert Delivery shall be made within 60 days after receipt of award.

The delivery address is:

NIST - Shipping and Receiving 100 Bureau Drive, Building 301

Gaithersburg, MD 20899 Ref: Div 643 / Building 217, Room C115 (Reference the contract Number)

NIST's normal business hours: 7:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Eastern Time, Monday through Friday except Federal holidays or official closures.
