About this file
This document is a Questions and Answers (Q&A) clarification for a Request for Quote (RFQ) regarding CO2 Fire Extinguishers Hydrostatic Testing services at NIST.
The RFQ is unrestricted with no small business set-aside, though small businesses are encouraged to participate. The Government anticipates procuring hydrostatic testing services for approximately 3 batches of 100 fire extinguishers each, with the quantity subject to change based on collections. Fire extinguishers will be available for pickup at the NIST fire station building 303 room 128, and contractors are not required to provide loaner extinguishers during the testing period. Turnaround time for completed testing is based on when hydrostatic testing is complete rather than a predetermined schedule, with no preferred batch schedule specified. The RFQ was revised on June 9, 2026, to correct an inconsistency regarding the small business set-aside designation between the SF 1449 form and RFQ language.
