About this file

This document is Amendment 0002 for a Request for Quote (RFQ) for a Cylindrical Vacuum Chamber, issued by the Department of Commerce National Institute of Standards and Technology. The amendment addresses a technical specification question regarding the leak test requirements for the vacuum chamber. Specifically, the government clarified that while the leak rate specification is 5 × 10^-12 TorrL/s, a measured leak rate above this lowest limit would be acceptable. The amendment was issued on 05/23/25, with a response due date of 05/27/25, and is associated with RFQ Number 1333ND25QNB680190. The key focus is on providing precise technical guidance to potential bidders about the acceptable performance parameters of the vacuum chamber's leak testing specifications.

Requirement: Vacuum Chambers RFQ Number: 1333ND25QNB680190 Amendment Number: 0002 Purpose: Provide government response to submitted questions.

Date of Amendment:05/23/25 Response Due Date: 05/27/25

The purpose of amendment 0001 is to provide the government’s response to submitted questions.

QUESTION 1: He leak test specs of the Cylindrical Vacuum Chamber (RFQ NUMBER 1333ND25QNB680190). It has been indicated the 10^-12 Torr spec listed is likely to high to be practical and was wondering if that was intended/required or if a leak rate of 10^-9 would be acceptable.

RESPONSE 1: The specification 4a is in reference to leak rate, and it says that testing must be done down to a level of 5 ´ 10-12 Torr∙L/s (i.e., this must be the ultimate limit of the leak detector used in the testing). A measured leak rate above this lowest limit would be acceptable
