About this file

This document is a Statement of Requirements for a high-temperature tube furnace with a gas delivery system. The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) requires this equipment to support their Materials Measurement Lab research in ceramic additive and advanced manufacturing.

The key specifications include: a single-zone tube furnace with horizontal orientation capable of operating up to 1600°C, an aluminum oxide tube with minimum 99.7% purity, digital control, ability to connect to a PC for LabView control, and gas-tight end caps. Delivery is required within 21 calendar days after award. The government intends to award a firm-fixed-price purchase order to the responsible contractor submitting the lowest-priced, technically acceptable quote that meets the stated requirements. This is a 100% small business set-aside with quotes due by August 28, 2024.

STATEMENT OF REQUIREMENTS

High-Temperature Tube Furnace with Gas Delivery System

I. BACKGROUND INFORMATION

The Materials Measurement Science Division, Materials Structure, and Data Group requires a high-temperature tube furnace with a gas delivery system to advance our Materials Measurement

Lab (MML) focus area research in ceramic additive and advanced manufacturing. We require a tube furnace capable of operating at temperatures of at least 1600 oC so that we can process ceramic materials under controlled oxygen.

II. SPECIFICATION

The contractor shall deliver a high-temperature tube furnace with a gas delivery system. The equipment must meet the following minimum specifications:

1) The furnace must be a single-zone tube furnace with a horizontal orientation.

2) The furnace must be cable of operation up to at least 1600 oC.

3) The furnace must be sized for and supplied with an outer diameter aluminum oxide tube with an outer diameter in the range of 76 to 86 mm, at least a 100 mm wall thickness, and be at least 900 mm in length.

4) The furnace shall have a heated length of at least 200 mm.

5) The aluminum oxide tube supplied with the furnace must have a minimum Al2O3 purity of

99.7%.

6) The furnace must have a digital control touch screen installed on the furnace controller.

7) The furnace controller must be able to store at least 10 individual temperature programs with a minimum of 24 segments per program.

8) The furnace must operate using SiC heating elements.

9) It must be possible to connect the furnace to a PC in order to control the operation of the furnace using LabView software, and all relevant software and cables relevant to controlling the furnace via PC must be supplied.

10) The furnace must operate on 3-phase 220 V.

11) The furnace must be supplied with gas-tight end caps attached to the furnace tube via quick-connect flanges.

12) Both end caps must be able to connect to gas flow and have an additional KF25 flange mounted to each endcap (the KF25 flange is required by the users in order to mount additional oxygen sensors and process sensors or thermocouples to either side of the tube).

13) An operation manual must be supplied in either hardcopy or electronic format.

Warranty:

The Contractor shall provide, at minimum, a one-year warranty for the equipment. The warranty shall cover all parts, labor, and travel and commence upon government acceptance.

III. DELIVERY

Delivery shall take place during NIST normal business hours, between 8:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Eastern Time, Monday through Friday, except Federal Holidays, and shall be coordinated with the NIST Subject Matter Expert (SME). Delivery shall occur within 21 calendar days after the award of this requirement.
