About this file
This document is a Questions and Answers (Q&A) supplement to a federal Solicitation for an Ultrasonic Atomizer for Producing Metal Powder (Solicitation #1333ND24QNB640397). The Solicitation was issued by the Department of Commerce National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) as a full and open competition with a North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code of 332117 - Powder Metallurgy Part Manufacturing.
The Q&A addresses questions from vendors regarding optional equipment, technical specifications, and the evaluation criteria. Key details include: the government will evaluate quotes on technical approach, prior experience, past performance, and price, with the non-price factors being significantly more important than price; the contractor must have an active System for Award Management (SAM) registration; the government may negotiate with one or more, but not all, contractors; and the contractor must specify any exceptions to the government's terms and conditions. Quotations are due by 1:00 pm ET on August 7, 2024.

Q&A SOLICITATION 1333ND24QNB640397
Q.1. (OPTIONAL EQUIPMENT) Items purchased after the system has been commissioned may be installed by the end-user or onsite by Amazemet. How would you like us to quote, with or without onsite services, if these options are exercised? Costs, in either case, will not include the shipment or applicable use tax or tariffs if applicable.
A.1. If optional line items are to be exercised, they will be exercised at the time of the award. The SOR has been edited to reflect this change.
Q.2. (6. ULTRASONIC SYSTEM) Please correct the typographical error where 20kHz should read
40kHz
A.2. Yes, this was a typographical error. It should read 40kHz. The SOR has been edited to reflect this change.
Q.3. (OPTION 1: ADDITIONAL VACUUM MECHANICAL GRIPPER) We provide one
Mechanical Gripper and can provide additional jaws when needed. It would be unusual to provide a spare. We would, however, recommend a second Manual Rod Feeder, which potentially doubles the throughput of each batch without pumping down the chamber; the cost is the same.
A.3. If a vacuum mechanical gripper is already included with the system, it does not need to be included as an option.
