Vibration Specifications
To avoid image quality problems, the Gemini System must be kept within the vibration ranges listed below when in operation:
- Vibrations / Frequency Range: 10 Hz - 150 Hz
- Vibrations Acceleration (in G(rms)): 0.00001 x (Hz)^1.7 *
- Shock Acceleration: 0 - 2 g
- Operating Air Pressure: 70kPa - 110kPa. **
* Maximum allowable vibrations of the x-ray focal spot with respect to the patient support top. Higher vibrations at certain frequencies could lead to image degradation.
** 1 kPa = 10mbar
(06.0)
To avoid image quality problems, the external magnetic field strength must be less than 1 gauss (0.1mT) steady state from 10'-0" (3048mm) of scanner and cannot fluctuate by more than +/-0.05 gauss.
Magnetic Field Limitations
Radiation Considerations
The isotopes used in the Gemini emit a higher energy radiation than the isotopes typically used in single photon imaging - 511 keV vs. 140 keV for Tc-99m. Special care must be taken in the layout of the Gemini suite so the radiation emitted does not pose a radiation hazard to the personnel.
The Gemini Scanner Room should be close to the radiopharmaceutical dispensing area and a patient waiting area. The patient waiting area is a room where the patient can wait during the uptake period, i.e. after the activity has been injected and before imaging begins. These three areas should be a reasonable distance from offices and Nuclear Medicine scanning rooms. In order to preserve optimal imaging operation, the Gemini system should not be exposed to external F-18 dose rates in excess of 0.3 mr/hr measured at 1 meter from the gantry. Customer should also consult a Radiation Safety Officer (RSO) to determine proper radiation safety requirements and procedures.
A separate injection/waiting room is recommended. This room should be located so that the radiation from patients injected with FDG will not affect nearby gamma cameras. If the walls between the injection/waiting area and the Scanner Room are not shielded, the rooms should be planned so that the injected patient is kept at least 30 ft. (9m) from the isocenter of the Scanner. This will ensure that the background radiation from the injected patient does not interfere with the operation of the Gemini.
Refer to sheet MP1 of final drawing package for Stray Radiation Dose Map and radioactive source and licensing information. (07.0)
Operating temperature range throughout the PET/CT suite is 59º F. (15º C.) to 75º F.
(24º C.) at 35% to 70% relative humidity (non-condensing). Change rate 5º F (3º C)/ hr.
Heat output in one area of PET/CT suite must not affect temperature and humidity in other areas. It is strongly recommended that any definable areas within the suite, i.e., equipment closets, control areas, etc. (if applicable), be individually environmentally controlled as required to meet the ambient ranges specified.
See Equipment Detail sheets for individual equipment ratings which may or may not operate simultaneously.
HVAC Requirement for General Equipment Locations
(07.0)
Supply Configuration: 3 phase WYE, 3 wires and Earth 1 & 2
Nominal Line Voltage (at Separation Unit): 480 VAC (+/- 10%), 50 - 60 Hz (+/- 3%)
Room Disconnect/ Circuit Breaker: 100 Amps
Branch Power Requirement: 112.5 kVA
See sheet ED1 of final drawing package for complete electrical requirement details.
(07.0)
Electrical Requirements Gemini PET/CT System
(07.0)
16. The structural floor support of the PET/CT Suite and the equipment delivery path is adequate for the weight of the equipment and is validated by the customer prior to delivery of the system (reference sheets AD4, SD1, and SD2 of final drawing package for details).
6. Light levels for servicing of equipment to be a minimum of 500 lux.
Networking Note Supplying and installing network connections between Philips equipment and other node connections shall be the customer's responsibility. Customers must specify, supply and install AUI transceivers, cabling, repeaters, routers etc., which are consistent with the site needs and sound network implementation practices. Also included under the customer's responsibility is the purchase and installation of conduits and/or raceways for containment and routing of networking cables, as determined by site conditions or required by local building and fire codes.
Note Once Philips has moved equipment into the suite and started the installation, the contractor shall schedule his work around the Philips installation team on site. It is suggested that a telephone be provided in the room to receive telephone calls. This would alleviate facility staff from answering calls for Philips personnel.
14. Philips does not install or connect developing tanks, automatic processors or associated equipment, built in illuminators, cassette pass boxes, loading benches and cabinets, lead protective screens, panels or lead glass window and frame. This is to be done by the customer/contractor.
8. All support structures correctly installed. All channels, pipes, beams and/or other supporting devices should be level, parallel, and free of lateral or longitudinal movements.
9. All contractor supplied wires pulled and terminated.
10. A dust-free environment in and around the procedure room.
11. All HVAC (heating, ventilating and air conditioning) installed and operational as per specifications.
12. Architectural features such as computer floor, wood floor, casework, bulkheads, installed and finished.
Minimum Site Preparation Requirements
A smooth efficient installation is vital to Philips and their customers. Understanding what the minimum site preparation requirements are will help achieve this goal. The following list clearly defines the requirements which must be fulfilled before the installation can begin.
1. Walls to be painted or covered, baseboards installed, floors to be tiled and/or covered, ceiling shall have grid tiles and lighting fixtures installed and operational.
2. Doors and windows, especially radiation protection barriers, installed and finished with locksets operational (reference MP1 sheet of final drawing package for details).
3. All electrical convenience outlets, conduit, raceway and junction boxes installed and operational.
4. Incoming mains power (including any power devices purchased through Philips) operational and available at the Gemini Separation Unit (reference sheet ED1 of final drawing package).
5. Room lighting installed and operational with contactor in circuit to permit foot pedal control. Devices should be level, parallel, and free of lateral or longitudinal movements.
7. 120V convenience outlets operational.
13. All plumbing installed and operational (if required).
15. Exam room floor should be within the floor "levelness" and "waviness" specifications (reference sheets SN and SD3 of final drawing package for details).
17. All door sizes, corridor widths and heights, and elevator sizes/capacities should be checked to ensure that they are adequate for delivery of equipment into exam room.
Required door width is 48" (1219mm) for adjacent 96" (2438mm) corridor, 60" (1524mm) for adjacent 72" (1829mm) corridor, and 38" (965mm) for straight-in delivery.
Recommended minumum door height shall be 82" (2038mm).
Remote Service Diagnostics Medical imaging equipment to be installed by Philips Medical is equipped with a service diagnostic feature which allows for remote and on site service diagnostics. To establish this feature, a RJ45 type ethernet 100/1000 Mbit network connector must be installed as shown on plan. Access to customer's network via their remote access server is needed for Remote Service Network (RSN) connectivity. All costs with this feature are the responsibility of the customer (see sheets EL, E1, and N1 of final drawing package for details).
18. A sink with cabinet and counter space, etc., may be required by code or desired by customer in each exam room. A toilet adjacent to PET/CT room may be required by code or desired by customer.
General Specifications
1. Responsibility The customer shall be solely responsible, at its expense for preparation of site, including any required structural alterations. The site preparation shall be in accordance with plans and specifications provided by Philips. Compliance with all safety, electrical and building codes relevant to the equipment and its installation is the customer's responsibility.
Sufficiency of such plans and specifications, specifically including, but not limited to the accuracy of the dimensions described therein, shall be the sole responsibility of customer.
The customer shall advise Philips of conditions at or near the site which could adversely affect the carrying out of the installation work and shall ensure that such conditions are corrected and that the site is fully prepared and available to Philips before the installation work is due to begin. The customer shall provide all necessary plumbing, carpentry work, or conduit wiring required to attach and install products ready for use.
2. Permits Customer shall obtain all permits and licenses required by federal, state/provincial or local authorities in connection with the construction, installation and operation of the products and shall bear any expense in obtaining same or in complying with any related rules, regulations, ordinances and statutes.
3. Radiation Protection The customer or his contractor, at his own expense, shall obtain the service of a licensed radiation physicist to specify radiation protection.

4. Floor Anchoring The installation materials included with the Gemini system are for anchoring the Gantry to a floor made of concrete. To anchor to other types of floors, purchase the appropriate installation materials locally.
In order to meet electrical ground isolation requirements, all methods of scanner gantry and patient support bolting must not come in contact with any building steel structure or reinforecment. Modular buillding floor structures may require additional bracing beneath scanner gantry and patient support, in order to eliminate vibration that can affect clinical images. See SD1 sheet for more details.
8. Seismic Anchorage (For Seismic Zones Only) All seismic anchorage hardware, including brackets, backing plates, bolts, etc., shall be supplied and installed by the customer/contractor unless otherwise specified within the support legend on this sheet. Installation of electronic cabinets to meet seismic anchorage requirements must be accomplished using flush mounted expansion type anchor/bolt systems to facilitate the removal of a cabinet for maintenance. Do not use threaded rod/adhesive anchor systems.
7. Ceiling Obstructions There shall be no obstructions that project below the finished ceiling in the area covered by ceiling suspended equipment travel. (if applicable)
6. Lighting Lighting fixtures shall be placed in such a position that they are not obscured by equipment or its movement, nor shall they interfere with Philips ceiling rails and equipment movement or otherwise adversely affect the equipment. Such lighting fixture locations shall be the sole responsibility of the customer. (if applicable)
5. Ceiling Support Apparatus Philips provides, with this plan and specifications, information relative to size, weight and shape of ceiling supported equipment. The customer shall be solely responsible, through the engineer of record for the building, to provide on the architectural/construction drawings, information regarding the approved method of structural support apparatus, fasteners and anchorage to which Philips will attach equipment. Any anchorage and/or load test required by local authority shall be the customer's responsibility.
Contractor to clearly mark Philips equipment longitudinal centerline on bottom of each structural support.
The structural support apparatus surface to which Philips equipment is to be attached, shall have horizontal equipment attachment surfaces parallel, square and level to within 1/16 inch (2mm).
Any drilling and/or tapping of holes required to attach Philips equipment to the structural support apparatus shall be the responsibility of the customer. (if applicable)
Fasteners/anchors (i.e., bolts, spring nuts, lock and flat washers) and strip closures shall be provided by the customer. (if applicable)
3. Floor Loading and Surface Philips provides, with this plan and specifications, information relative to size, weight and shape of floor mounted equipment. The customer shall be solely responsible, through the engineer of record for the building, to provide on the architectural/construction drawings confirmation of the structural adequacy of the floor upon which the equipment will be placed. Any load test required by local authority, shall be the customer's responsibility. The floor surface upon which Philips equipment is to be placed/anchored shall be flat and level to within plus or minus 1/4 inch (7mm). Reference sheet SD3 for details.
2. Equipment Anchorage Philips provides, with this plan and specifications, information relative to equipment size, weight, shape, anchoring hole locations and forces which may be exerted on anchoring fasteners. The customer shall be solely responsible, through the engineer of record for the building, to provide on the architectural/construction drawings, information regarding the approved method of equipment anchoring to floors, wall and/or ceiling of the building. Any anchorage test required by local authority shall be the customer's responsibility. Stud type anchor bolts should not be specified as they hinder equipment removal for service.
1. General The customer shall be solely responsible, at their expense, for preparation of the site, including any required structural alterations. The site preparation shall be in accordance with this plan and specifications, the architectural/construction drawings and in compliance with all safety and building codes. The customer shall be solely responsible for obtaining all construction permits from jurisdictional authority.

Anchor Requirements:
Philips supplies HSL-3, M12/25mm anchors, with a required minimum bolt engagement depth of 3.19" (81mm), see diagram.
Customer must retain a licensed structural engineer to determine appropriate anchoring materials and requirements per site. Holes need to be drilled for fasteners at the locations shown. The depth and the diameter of the holes to be determined by the customer's licensed structural engineer.
CAUTION: Do not drill anchor holes in pre-tensioned or post-tensioned concrete floors before determining the location of the tensioned wire ropes.
Consult with customer or responsible facility engineer to locate and avoid drilling through wire ropes. Cutting through tensioning cables can cause serious structural damage.
