1. Are there any specifications for temperature and humidity control? Do we need to consider either for in the cleanroom?

Answer: No.

2. Are there a desired number of air changes per hour the room needs to meet or an ISO class?

Answer: No, but the cleanroom needs to have fans to provide ventilation and air exchange with the larger room it is housed in. But we don’t have a specified requirement for the number of air changes per hour. The air changes for the larger lab it is housed are around 6 to 10 per hour. NIST does not need an ISO class because we are not using this as a typical cleanroom that the typical customer would use it as.

3. Is the existing fume hood sitting against the wall or are we able to put a modular wall panel between the fume hood and the existing room wall?

Answer: The fume hood is against the wall, and we cannot put a modular wall panel between the fume hood and the room wall. This goes for both the fume hood’s back face as well as the side face. So the modular cleanroom shall still have four walls, just that the modular walls should stop at the fume hood at the intersection of the hood and the lab walls.

4. Can we suspend a cleanroom ceiling system from the existing room/building? Or will this need to be a “freestanding” build?

Answer: No. It has to be a freestanding build.

5. Are there any specifications on wall materials?

Answer: No.

6. Will the existing floor remain?

Answer: Yes. The cleanroom does not need a floor as we will use the existing lab floor.

7. How far will the ductwork run from the cleanroom to the existing ventilation system?

Answer: This is not applicable as we are not directly venting from the cleanroom to the HVAC. The cleanroom will vent to the general outer lab space, not directly to the HVAC.

8. Can you provide a floor plan of the existing building/surrounding area to this lab?

Answer: NIST has provided the lab's floor plan but cannot provide a floor plan of the area surrounding the lab.

9. Is this build going to be on the ground level?

Answer: It is on grade.

10. Page (34) of the RFQ mentions a “1 Space Plan PDF file” – can you email me this?

Answer: Reference the “Description” section of the solicitation that reads, “ THIS WEBSITE DOES NOT SUPPORT THE ATTACHMENT Technical Exhibit 1 3D solid

Additional relevant files floor plan (PDF), general info (PDF) have been loaded for this RFQ and three versions of a 3d CAD model (.stp, .sat., .igs). However, vendors shall contact the Contracting Officer, MeeLondrell Lumpkin, at meelondrell.lumpkin@nist.gov to obtain a copy of three versions of a 3d CAD model (.stp, .sat., .igs).

11. Who will supply the new fume hood for the room? What is the CFM of the hood?

Answer: The fume hood already exists. NIST doesn’t know the CFM of the hood but is in our application. Since we are not using the cleanroom in the traditional sense, the CFM for the hood is not a concern.
