Contractor Questions & Answers
Q3. Confirm the grade, spec, purity, quantity required for:
< = 1% FLUORINE IN ARGON, HELIUM, KRYPTON, NEON, NITROGEN or XENON
A3. This is a specialty gas called out by a certain NIST division and all the grade, spec, purity, and quantity would be called out in the notes section when ordering this specialty gas.
Q4. Clarify the specifications for the following three-line items:
CO2: N2: He LASER MIX Laser 250 CF 248 nm EXCIMER LASER GAS "MIX95 S-16-2000"
50 CF
198 nm EXCIMER LASER GAS"MIX88 S-16-2000"
50 CF
A4. These are also NIST division specific laser mixes that are ordered for specific uses in their labs. All specifics would be called out in the notes section upon ordering the laser mixes.
Q5. Will NIST consider accepting 103 cylinders in lieu of lecture bottles (a safer alternative)?
A5. No. Some systems will only allow the use\size of a lecture bottle. Some labs are only trying a lecture bottle size to see if their experiments will justify this type of specialty gas usage.
Q6. What lead time will NIST provide for those gases that may only be ordered once per year (as some of those items may have several week lead times)?
A6. NIST will accept a 2-week lead for certain gases that are ordered once per year.
