Question and Answer

EMERGENCY CHEMICAL RESPONSE PHONE NUMBER SERVICES 1333MF21QNFFK0023

Q: Are the 40 locations all in the United States? If not, how many are outside the USA and what country are they in?

A: The 40 NMFS facility locations are all within the US or territories. However shipping will be conducted world-wide.

Q: Does each location require a unique toll-free number?

A: No.

Q: Are the hazardous materials consistent within the 40 locations?

A: We are a scientific organization and the various locations use various hazardous materials for their studies. They will not be the exact same for each location.

Q: How many different hazardous materials are being used?

A: Unknown; we are a scientific organization and the various locations use and will utilize various hazardous materials for their studies Q: Can a list of those materials be provided prior to the award?

A: No. We need a vendor who can provide a 24-hour emergency response phone number services for any and all hazardous materials that may be shipped.

Q: Do you have an estimate of the number of calls per day?

A: The phone number is needed on the bill of lading shipping documents when shipping hazardous materials and would only be called in the event of an emergency. At whatever location the package is at in the shipping process if there was an emergency with the package, for instance, it appears to be leaking, then whoever is in control of that package at that time would call the number to seek emergency guidance based on the hazmat info the NMFS certified shipper has placed on the label, hence the reason the lines must be monitored 24/7 with hazmat specialists trained in being able to provide the proper emergency guidance. Therefore, providing an estimated number of calls is not something anyone can provide.
