Attachment 1 – Questions and Government Response:

1. As all questions have to be submitted by 30 December, that will leave very little time between getting answers to our questions and the submission deadline. Therefore, request a 2 week extension for submission to 19 January.

Response: Closing date and time has been extended to 1/10/22 at 12:00PM EST.

2. The RFP states that the system must “have its own power supply (solar and batteries)”. Is NOAA willing to allow a system with a generator or does the power supply have to be limited to solar and batteries?

Response: We do not want to have to maintain a generator.

3. Is this RFP leading to the acquisition of additional systems or is this going to be a one of purchase?

Response: Yes, we may be interested in an additional system for the Thunder Bay National Marine Sanctuary as well as another possible location based on the effectiveness of this.

4. Is NOAA planning on using the radar system year-round or only during the specific timeframes listed in the RFP?

Response: Most likely for specific time frames. Probably 6-8 months out of the year.

5. Is NOAA open to purchasing radar data (As a Service Model) from industry-owned radars rather than purchasing and owning individual radar units for the specific SMAs listed?

Response: At this time, NOAA is purchasing a unit to own.

6. Is there a possibility to delay the delivery date past 15 February?

Response: A later delivery is possible but will be required before the end of April, 2022.
