About this file

This document contains minimum technical requirements for a power supply unit to be integrated into the NEXRAD Doppler Meteorological Radar's Signal Processor Interface Panel (SPIP) operated by the National Weather Service (NWS).

The required power supply must be an enclosed unit rated for 28 VDC output at 12 amperes, with single-phase input capability across 85–265 VAC at 47–63 Hz. The equipment must measure 4.25" wide by 4.75" high by 10.25" deep and operate within a temperature range of -20°C to +50°C using forced-air cooling. The preferred configuration is equivalent to the TDK (Lambda) LZSA-500-3 model, though the Government will accept direct form, fit, and function equivalents that satisfy all stated requirements. Critical features include compliance with MIL-STD-810 shock and vibration standards, protection against electromagnetic interference and lightning-induced surges suitable for radar environments, UL and/or CSA recognized safety certifications, and a minimum five-year manufacturer warranty. The power supply must be new, unused equipment only.
