Specifications for Mobile Loading Dock

1.0 SCOPE

This specification describes the requirements for a mobile loading dock to be used at the National Data

Buoy Center’s (NDBC) campus at Stennis Space Center, Mississippi.

2.0 PURPOSE

NDBC will use this mobile loading dock for the loading and unloading of enclosed trucks and Conex shipping containers on trucks of varying heights. This loading dock will be used at multiple locations in the NDBC campus and needs to be mobile for this purpose.

3.0 REQUIREMENTS

The requirement is for a commercially available mobile loading dock with the following specifications:

Configuration: Inclined ramp with leveled deck area at truck entrance. Height adjustable within service range. Wheeled middle supports to facilitate movement of the dock with a NDBC forklift. Railings and deck edge guards to ensure forklift remains on loading dock deck/ramp. Wheel checks to secure loading dock from truck impacts and movement while loading/unloading.

Load Capacity: 32,000 lbs minimum working load

Adjustable Service Range of Dock Decking Edge: Minimum range of 36”-56” in to accommodate varying truck bed heights

Incline Length: Minimum of 30ft

Level Deck Length: Minimum of 8ft

Width of Ramp/Deck: Minimum of 102” overall (Minimum 96” free of obstructions)

Wheels: Minimum 20” Solid rubber tires

Ramp/Deck Side Edge Guards: Minimum of 13” height above ramp/deck elevation

Handrails: Minimum of 30” height above ramp/deck elevation in accordance with IBC 1013.2

Wheel Chocks: In accordance with OSHA 29 CFR 1910.178(k)

Warranty: Minimum 5-year warranty for all structural elements

Delivery: NLT 120 days from receipt of order
