SEQ CHAPTER \h \r 1

CONTINENTAL ELECTRONICS TRANSMITTER DESCRIPTION FOR WR300B AND WR1000B

GENERAL

The entire system is delivered pre-wired and installed in a 19-inch rack mount cabinet. Program audio is normally supplied on a leased telephone line: control and monitoring functions are normally achieved with a dial-up telephone line. The Redundant Transmitter Controller (RTC) shares a dial-up line with a Remote Off-Air Monitoring System (ROAMS). Installation also requires connections to two primary AC power circuits and an antenna. Remote monitoring and control via a dial in telephone line will require a computer with CEC remote interface software installed and a 56K modem.

SPECIFICATIONS

Cabinet size: WR300B – 24w x 28d x 48h (inches)

WR1000B– 24w x 28d x 48h (inches)

Cabinet size does not include the bandpass cavity

Primary power: WR300B systems require two 120 or 208/240 volt ac circuits; WR1000Bsystems require two 208/240 volt ac circuits.

Telephone lines: One dial-up phone line is required for ROAMS operation and remote monitor and control.

Operating environment: Temperature: -30(C to +50(C; humidity 10-95%; maximum altitude 12,000 feet.

Control and monitoring: ROAMS monitors and reports system status. Also, a microprocessor-based interface controls the system and monitors power output, SWR, power amplifier voltage and current, audio input level, deviation, primary ac voltage, and other critical parameters. Fault sensing initiates automatic switching of the transmitters.

Computer for remote operation: The minimum recommended computer is a Pentium based processor with 4 Gigabytes of RAM with 250 megabytes of free hard disk space, a serial RS-232C port, and a 56Kbaud modem. The system should run a 32 bit version of Windows 7 operating system.

Transmission mode: Narrowband FM

RF frequency range: 162.400 to 162.550 MHz in 25 kHz steps RF deviation: (5 kHz

RF frequency stability: 0.0005%, -30(C to +50(C

RF power: WR300B, 100-375 watts

WR1000B, 300-1250 watts

Power measured with a 50Ω non-reactive load.

Load mismatch protection: Auto-foldback occurs at 3:1 or higher VSWR

Output impedance: 50 Ω unbalanced

Audio frequency resp: 200 Hz - 5 kHz, within +1/-3 dB of 6dB per octave pre-emphasis Audio distortion: Less than 1.0%

FM hum and noise: Better than -40 dB

AM noise: Better than -34 dB

Spurious emission: Better than -74 dB

Power consumption: WR300B – less than 750 Watts

WR1000B – less than 2500 Watts (with one tx in standby mode) MTBF: Better than 10,000 hours

Audio input: 600Ω balanced

Input level: -20 dBm to +5dBm for (5 kHz deviation
