Amendment 0002 to Solicitation 1305M218QNAAA0143 Necessity for Amendment:

· To answer questions received in response to the subject Request for Quote.

· To extend the response date through September 11, 2018, 3 pm CT.

Question 1: Is a structured white light or red light 3D scanner acceptable or must the light source be blue?

Alternative light color is allowed if it does not impact the ability of the scanner to measure critical component features for inspection to 1mil accuracy. Blue light has less reflection with metallic shinny surfaces, in lab white light setting. This is why we prefer Blue light.

Question 2: The dual camera triple scan functionality is specific to a vendor. Provided we meet the purpose and key specifications, is it necessary for us to implement a dual camera triple scan approach?

A Dual Camera is necessary for shinny objects and deep contour features such as holes 2-3X diameter. It also allows fewer scans while maintaining high data quality. There are no noise requirements.

Question 3: A 3 mega pixel image sensor meets the data density requirements for the largest specified field of view. Can a 3 mega pixel image sensor be used?

A 5 mega pixel image sensor increases the resolution and data points collected, therefore improving detail (higher polygon count) of the scan. We require higher range of resolution within the desired field of view.

Question 4: I believe that accuracy and resolution are separate concepts (please see either the ASNT or NIST websites for descriptions of both). Do you mean accuracy? If so, what is the definition of accuracy that you are applying (for example, the ASNT definition). Is there a standard method for measuring the accuracy that you need applied (for example, the VDI standard)?

We are refereeing to accuracy when it comes to the quality of the model scanned and how accurately it compares to the physical object. Yes, we would like for it to follow the VDI standard.

Question 5: What details do you need? Are you looking for information on the parts used to manufacture the 3D scanner?

In the event parts need to be ordered for malfunction, repair or replacement, we require details on how this process would take place.
