1.0 SCOPE

This Statement of Work (SOW) defines the effort required to conduct a Life Analysis Update for the AE1107C engine program

1.1 BACKGROUND

The Government team is working to create a Life Management Master Plan for the AE 1107C engine. The goal is to bring the lifing process more in-line with current Government practices. In order to do this, an update to part lives is required. As part of this effort, an updated mission mix is being developed in order to accurately capture the current operations of the fleet. The current specified missions utilized by the program have not been re-evaluated since they were first introduced in the 1990s (Rolls-Royce EDR18322 dated 1997) and are no longer representative of the way the fleet flies. The new mission mix will need to be processed using the Contractor’s standard lifing methodology to determine new limits for critical engine components.

In order to ensure that all activities would be in compliance with the standard practices of both the Contractor and the Government, CM NAVAIR-AE1107C-2016-019 was sent to the Contractor to explain the current Government practices. The Contractor replied with CM RRC-AE1107C-2016-051 and documented process differences. An evaluation of both memos revealed that except for minor differences, the two processes are essentially the same.

1.2 APPLICABLE DOCUMENTS

· USN AE1107C Life Management Plan

· NAVAIR-AE1107C-2016-019 (NAVAIR Lifing Methodology)

· RRC-AE1107C-2016-051 (Lifing Methodology)

1.3 GOVERNMENT FURNISHED INFORMATION

The Government shall provide an updated mission mix for use in the lifing update.

2.0 REQUIREMENTS

2.1 GENERAL REQUIREMENTS

The Contractor shall use the FMECA to determine all critical engine components.

2.2 ANALYSIS REQUIREMENTS

The Contractor shall conduct stress analysis of all critical engine turbine components starting at Contractor internal Gate 2b (3D Stress) through completion. The Contractor shall use the Government approved filtered mission mix to conduct the turbine stress analysis. This shall be done in accordance with the Contractor’s standard practices, plus the following conditions:

· The stress analysis shall include mechanical and thermal loads.

· The stress analysis shall also include steady state and transient stresses due to engine operation.

The thermal and compressor stress analysis completed in the FY17 funded CIP effort and the turbine stress analysis shall be used to conduct a lifing analysis of all critical engine components. The lifing analysis shall be performed using the Contractor’s standard practices.

2.3 DOCUMENTATION REQUIREMENTS

The Contractor shall provide a report upon the completion of each analysis, i.e. turbine stress and lifing (CDRL L001). This shall include, but is not limited to:

· Analysis assumptions

· Conditions the analysis was performed at

· Conclusions

· Any presentations provided to NAVAIR

The Contractor shall provide a final report that documents the results of the entire effort (CDRL (L002). This shall include, but is not limited to:

· Final list of critical parts

· Final list of lives for critical parts (in logged aircraft flight hours)

· All prior delivered reports under CDRL (L001)

3.0 DELIVERABLES

The following items shall be delivered to support the Life Analysis Update:

· Status reports with the analysis conducted and the updated part life as a result of the analysis (CDRL L001)

· Final report (CDRL L002)
