About this file

This document is a Brand Name/Sole Source Justification form for procuring a specific cable from Belden. NSWC Corona is requesting two 6000-foot spools of Multi-Conductor 600V Tray Cable (Part #1065A), specifically an 8-Pair 18 AWG PVC/NYL FS PVC Black, Direct-Burial cable. The justification is based on compatibility with an existing Infrastructure Engineering Remote Scoring System (IRSS) for Navy, Air Force, and allied training ranges. Alternative cables may introduce signal degradation and require extensive testing, additional approval processes, and increased costs. The document indicates that procuring an alternative brand would necessitate testing, functionality verification, and obtaining sponsor approval, with estimated additional labor and time costs. NSWC Corona has no current plans to compete future contracts for these supplies and will assess competition feasibility if another potential source emerges.
