US Geological Survey Alaska Science Center
Statement of Work
I. GENERAL INFORMATION
A. The USGS in Anchorage, Alaska, specifically the Alaska Science Center and the Alaska Volcano Observatory, is on the closing end of our current facilities warehouse lease here in Anchorage. With the current lease expiring 30 JUN 2021, and the impending lease commencing any day now (official notice to proceed), the USGS must move from the old warehouse location to a new warehouse location within the Municipality of Anchorage.
B. GSA has still not officially issued a notice to proceed to the awarded lessor; however, we have been given the go-ahead to proceed with procuring a vendor to disassemble current racking and shelving in the warehouse; move the racking and shelving inventory across town; and reassemble it at the new warehouse location, along with moving all of the USGS equipment, gear, and other items stored in the warehouse.
II. WORK REQUIREMENTS
A. Technical Requirements.
1. Disassemble all racking and shelving components (upright, load, and support beams; anchor plates;
bolts/fasteners; and wire rack decks) at our current (old) 14,195 square foot warehouse.
2. Move components mentioned in II.A.1. from old warehouse (located at 12100 Industry Way, Anchorage) to new warehouse (located at 4831 Old Seward Highway, Anchorage).
3. Reassemble and install all racking and shelving components previously mentioned in the new 14,400 square foot warehouse.
a. Vendor will obtain any/all permits, inspections, and certifications as required by municipal code.
b. Vendor will provide any additional (new) needed bolts/fasteners to secure the racking/shelving in new warehouse location - some of the currents bolt fasteners may be damaged/compromised during the disassembly process at the old warehouse.
4. Move all equipment, gear, and other USGS items (palletized or otherwise) currently stored in Industry Way warehouse from old warehouse location to new Old Seward Highway warehouse location.
a. Some equipment and gear will be pre-palletized/prepared for movement; some will not. Equipment, gear, and other items not yet prepped to move will have to be prepared for move by shrink-wrapping, boxing, etc. by vendor.
b. Vendor will provide necessary moving/delivery materials (i.e. pads, dollies, cardboard boxes, packing tape, etc.).
5. Shear-off/grind down/smooth out to even with surrounding flooring any bolt stubs remaining in the old warehouse floor after removal of the racking/shelving components.
6. Contractor’s provision of services will be evaluated by a completion of moving all items (warehouse racking/shelving components and all USGS owned equipment, gear, and other items) from old warehouse to the new warehouse and the complete installation of all racking/shelving components in the new warehouse location within the period of performance.
B. Deliverables. Completion of work requirements outlined in II.A. within the period of performance via a phased work plan.
