Statement of Work
Description of Work
Monarch Habitat Planting - WRP Wetland Restoration Project
LOCATED IN STAFFORD TOWNSHIP, APPROXIMATELY FIVE (5) MILES
SOUTH OF LINTON, IN GREENE COUNTY, INDIANA.
The work will consist of site preparation (herbicide), furnishing of seed, installation (seeding), and follow up maintenance (mowing) site visit. The area of work is an existing upland grassland area on an existing government easement area. The specifications for site preparation, seed, installation and maintenance are provided, along with GIS location information.
The site is a large wetland property that is owned by the Indiana Department of Natural Resources. The USDA – Natural Resources Conservation Services owns a perpetual easement on the property and maintains access and maintenance rights.
The total acreage for application is 117.8 acres and is identified on the attached maps.
GIS shapefiles will be provided to the successful bidder to more precisely locate and apply practices.
A site showing will be scheduled to occur 2 weeks after the posting date in FedBizOps.
More information will be provided in the FBO posting.

Items of Work
Item 1: First Herbicide Application
This item includes mobilization of equipment and personnel to and from the site, and the application of a broad-spectrum herbicide applied according to label directions for control of brush and perennials. The application timing is August 1- August 31, 2019.
This item applies to 117.8 acres. The areas will be mowed in July by the landowner, prior to the contract first application of herbicide for more effective response. The contractor is not responsible for any pre-herbicide mowing.

Item 2: Second Herbicide Application
This item includes mobilization of equipment and personnel to and from the site, and the application of a broad-spectrum herbicide applied according to label directions for control of brush and perennials. The application timing is October 1 – October 31, 2019.
This item applies to 117.8 acres.
Item 3: Seed - Material Only
This item includes seed and any carrier used, delivery and storage (if needed). The contractor will supply seed at cost and provide invoices for billing. This method allows coverage for changing seed supply availability and cost. Estimate from supplier will be for actual seed (no substitutions) and if substitutions or cost changes are required at time of seed order, NRCS will review and approve changes to type and amount as appropriate.
Seed tags will be collected and reviewed for germination and weed seed. The carrier must be an inert material (i.e. cracked corn) that does not have abrasive properties that may cause damage to the equipment or the seed. See Attachment 9 for seed list.
Item 4: Seeding (Planting/Installation)
This item includes mobilization of equipment and personnel to and from the site and planting of seed as specified in Item 3. Seeding shall occur as dormant seeding and between December 1 and February 28. Seeding shall be by seed drill method.
No-Till seeding: Use a no-till drill with seven (7) inch or less row spacing. Ensure the drill is designed to handle the type of seed being planted (especially important for native grasses). Set the no-till drill to provide good seed-to-soil contact and a planting depth preferred for the desired species (see table below). Soils that are too wet or too dry can also cause improper seed placement.
