REQUEST FOR INFORMATION (RFI) RESPONSES
RFI #1 – Will an onsite water source be available for use during demolition and backfill activities?
No.
RFI #2 – Due to the tight access of the existing road some the boulders will need to be removed as well as some ground cover vegetation and possibly small trees that are in the way for the egress and entry of the 30 C.Y. end dumps? The boulders will be put back at their original location at the completion of the project.
The USFS intends to accommodate the contractor to the best of our ability for ease of access for large equipment however, no vegetation, trees, boulders, or natural landscape shall be removed/demolished without prior coordination and approval by the COR and CO.
RFI #3 – Are there trees that will require tree protection and if so which ones?
Contractor is responsible for protection of all trees and vegetation on the project. It is up to the contractor to determine the appropriate method to accomplish the projection. USFS intends to remove tree penetrating upper deck on southwest side of structure to be demolished.
RFI #4 – Can the trees that are close to the structure to be demolished be removed to allow for the removal of the demolished materials?
No, see above.
RFI #5 – What are the limits of the asphalt road removal?
No Asphalt is to be removed, see solicitation specifications.
RFI #6 – Is there a specification for the back fill material for the grading of the excavated areas?
The Forest Service does not anticipate that imported backfill will be needed. However, if it is needed to meet contract specifications the contractor is responsible.
RFI #7 – What are the hours of operation on highway 50 for the traffic control for the entry and egress of equipment and end dump trucking?
