The transmission electron microscope experienced catastrophic failure when the mother board in the instrument controlling computer failed in May 2024 due to age or electrical power outage. IT built another computer with similar operating features; we reinstalled the software but were still unable to get it running. Troubleshooting indicated that the CAB board had failed. The TEM also needs a preventive maintenance. OEM is Thermo Fisher FEI in Hillsboro, OR.
