SPECIFICATIONS -12905B24Q02146
ARS has a need for additional individually ventilated caging systems (IVCs) for mice to support our research. The Poisonous Plant Research Lab currently owns a Tecniplast airhandler and caging system. The new system must be compatible with the current system to facilitate studies and to ensure that the results are comparable.
The system must offer protection for operators and animals. The seal system of the individual cages must not have latches and must have silicon gasketed valves (not invasive to the cage), bottle cap, cage base and filter retainer ensure maximum sealing.
We are requesting an air handling unit that has a control panel to control basic functions. The air handling unit will provide air and support 4 single sided racks or two double sided racks for mice (up to 320 cages supported). The air handler unit will provide a stable environment to the cages in terms of temperature and air exchanges. Air handler will be controlled through a touch pad microprocessor system. The air handler will not transmit vibrations to the rack thus limiting stress to the animals.
We are requesting 220 cages with bottoms and tops, as well as water bottles, feed trays and filters for each cage. Individual cages have a measured floor area at a minimum of 77.66 inches2.
We are requesting three single sided racks, two racks that can hold 80 cages (8 wide, 10 high) and one rack that can hold 60 cages (6 wide and 10 high).
Quality system and Environmental system must be certified by DNV GL = ISO9001 and DNV GL = ISO 14001, respectively.
