About this file
This document contains the specifications for a Micro-Oxymax Respirometry System and the related federal contract opportunity.
The specifications detail the required features of the respirometry system, including its adaptability, sensing capabilities, compatibility with existing equipment, and ability to monitor a range of gases across multiple chambers. The total equipment pricing is listed as $132,510. The related federal contract opportunity is a Request for Quotation (RFQ) for a Base Micro-Oxymax 120VAC Single Channel system with associated components, to be delivered within 30 days to the USDA Agricultural Research Service in Albany, CA. The RFQ has an offer due date of August 1, 2024 and is an unrestricted solicitation under NAICS code 334516. The evaluation criteria and applicable FAR clauses are provided in the attached RFQ terms and conditions.

Specifications Project: Micro-Oxymax Respirometry System
Page 1 of 2 MICRO OXYMAX | SPECIFICATIONS, July 8, 2024`
Equipment Pricing information: $132,510 Procurement Forecast: 13345
Recommended Instrument:
Base Micro-Oxymax 120VAC Single Channel Components include:
Micro-Oxymax CO2 Sensor 3% Micro-Oxymax 10 Channel Expansion Interface Micro Oxymax Closed Loop Condenser Kit (2) Schott flasks 1000 mL (24) Flask lid assembly closed loop w/Condenser GL45 (24) Micro-Oxymax 52" Temperature Controlled Enclosure, 110VAC On Site Installation and Training Computer for system control
Must meet the following specifications:
1. Highly adaptable general-purpose closed-circuit respirometer that monitors gas concentration within an enclosed head space into which the material being monitored is respiring.
2. Periodic sensing of the gas concentration, along with an equally accurate measurement of the volume of the head space must allow calculations of incremental and accumulated values for consumption and production.
3. The system must have a modular design that allows expansion later to include additional gases and/or chambers.
4. The software must handle the details of data collation and the complexities of accommodating additional samples within the current experiment.
5. Must have a sensing threshold near 2 x 10-7 liters per hour.
6. The system must allow for single or multiple gas sensing including: Oxygen, Carbon Dioxide, Methane, Carbon Monoxide, Hydrogen Sulfide and Hydrogen that can be sensed over specially selected ranges to meet our applications.
7. The system must allow configuration to monitor from one to 80 chambers
8. Must allow the combination of multiple gases, high sensitivity and multiple chambers with computer-controlled operation for maximum flexibility.
9. The system must allow for microbial respiration most often associated with environmental soil and water research, food science and preservation, insect respiration, tissue and skin respiration, plant research, and a wide range of other applications.
10. The system must allow operation under testing conditions that limit all other manometric and electrolytic based respirometers. The system must automatically compensate for changes in pressure and temperature.
11. The system must initiate refreshing of the head space gas if concentrations deviate beyond operator prescribed limits. The system must keep an accurate account of system performance and prevent problems before they happen.
12. Internal diagnostics must thoroughly test the selected configuration and make recommendations to optimize conditions for a successful test.
13. Must be compatible with all the features of the current respirometer which is a Micro-Oxymax Columbus Instruments system
14. Measurements must be comparable from both instruments
