performs the work. None of the roads listed will impact home owners, campers, or the public enjoying for forest.
3. SHIFT TICKETS. The hourly work only applies to potential excavator work on the Cabinet Ranger District.
4. EXCAVATOR SIZE/PURPOSE. The excavator size would need to pluck 6-inch diameter trees with ease that stop the brusher from reaching the brushing limits (some roads are grown over).
There is a large amount of wind blown trees across some roads that need to be removed. A mini excavator will not work. A mid-sized or larger will work. The excavator was added as an option because it will not be used/needed on every road.
The COR requires a discussion with the Contractor to determine if the excavator is needed on a road before it is used.
5. EQUIPMENT WASH STATIONS. The Contractor can provide and use a portable water tank and pressure washer to clean equipment on the road and within the segment with active weed infestations on the Libby Ranger District. It has been the preferred method because it is less expensive and easier to do it in the field as opposed to mobilizing equipment out to facilitate cleaning it. Also, it reduces opportunity for seed spread during transport.
6. WARNING SIGNS. Any manufactured warning signs and/or other protective devices that conform with Part VI of the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (2003 Edition) for Streets and Highways, published by the Federal Highway Administration and applicable safety code that alert the public to activity and the nature of the work are acceptable. For example, slow machine triangles, flashing lights, and a keep back sign on the tractor along with a MOWING AHEAD sign to reduce the possibility of flying debris damage have been previously used.
Period of Performance: 08/29/2022 to 10/31/2023
