Ouray Communication Project
Questions and Answers & Photos
1. Is it correct to assume that the expected path for cabling will be from the work area to the telecom room through the ceiling/attic and not a crawl space/basement? Yes, cables will run through ceiling/attic.
2. Is the ceiling throughout the building a typical drop ceiling, or is it a hard ceiling? There is a drop ceiling through the cable pathway.
3. Looking at the drawings it looks like all the telecommunications outlets are along fixed walls.
The specification document states there will be no exposed cabling, so is it the governments expectation that the cabling will be ran from the ceiling down inside these walls, or does the government expect the contractor to use surface mount raceway with surface mount boxes on the walls to run the cabling from the ceiling down to the outlets? There are existing outlets the contractor can use to run the cables, if the contractor cannot accommodate all the cables in the existing outlets, or no existing outlets at certain locations, the government will allow the contractor to surface mount the boxes and use raceways to “hide” the cables coming down from the ceiling to the outlets.
4. Attachment 2 - Specs makes comments in several locations to comply with Division 16 specifications, but I don’t have any Division 16. Am I missing an attachment to the solicitation? I should have deleted those two statements from the specs. So no missing documents, no other specs.
5. Are we correct to assume that there is room in the Forest Service existing 19” rack for the required amount of new patch panels? I need to check on this questions, but no new panels needed. Just the cables from the working area to the communication room with enough tail on one end to run the cables through the new furniture and on the other end to get “plug” into the appropriate panel.
6. Is the government asking that patch cords be provided as part of the solicitation? No patch cords needed for the communication room.
7. Is it drop ceiling standard 2x4? Yes
8. How high is the highest ceiling tile? It is about 8 feet
9. Are there any existing raceway or cabling trays? No trays or raceway, there are some small
"hoops" to hold the cables on the ceiling (you can see the hoops on picture 1975.
10. Are Davis Bacon Wages Required? Yes Attachment 1 – Wage Determination
11. Is a site visit scheduled? No, if you would like to see the site you can contact me to arrange a walk through.
